How often you feed greens to your cham?

Hi Writh,
I havent offered my chameleon C.Calyptratus (veiled) greens or fruit in some time. He's 7 months so now, I used to offer fresh greens and fruit but he nevered bothered with them, preferring on one occasion to munch a few hibiscus leaves from the plant in his cage (though this was when he was 3 months or less and I beleive incidental to him trying to get more water from the leaves (This was when I installed the first dripper)), rather than intentionally, and he has never bothered with ficus or shefflera that grow in the cage either.
From what people say here, Panthers do, veilds do, but many other species dont, its thought by some that plant eating might be more a 'fallback' diet for them, for moisture in dry periods, food & moisture when times are tough and insect/prey numbers low etc
Mine seems not inclined to eat it despite it being on hand, but he has access to active water all day and enjoys well gutloaded insects.
Yours may or may not eat plants/fruit /veg if offered and might take to ingesting plant leaves if you provide live plants, many can be found listed on this forums 'Plants' list link on the homepage. Live plants also help maintain humidity, surfaces to drink from, & shelter both natural and visual shelter for your lizard.

My first female veiled didn't ever eat any vegetation at all. Maybe one bite out of her schefflera but that was it! My new baby cham, however, is completely different! She likes eating her schefflera and hibiscus plants. In fact she used to sleep in her schefflera but she ate the best 'bedroom' leaves so she had to sleep elsewhere, lol! If I put some kale in her cage she won't touch it at all, yet she eats her plants! Chams are all different. Some will eat fruit and veg and others won't!

That's hilarious Lil! .......Barmy Brits! Brings to mind a 'mock' Gary Larson cartoon of a dodgy plant selling veiled chameleon called Del Boy (suitcase down the market)
A La 'Only fools & horses'* , flogging hig 'Top of the line' 'bedroom leaves' ("lovely Jubbly") to unsuspecting passing chameleons, while a dodgy yellow three wheeled van (with a hole in the roof for his casque) sits parked on the street nearby.
Note: If your left thinking 'WTH?' google the Gary Larson and Only fools & Horses refrences.
And muster up some imagination...or just have another drink!

I don't feed greens direct to my cham. Tried multiple times, but ALL my chameleons just stare at the veggies till it shriveled. So, i gave up long time ago and just focused on giving my feeder the best gutload I can offer. All my cage plants have never been munched by them either. My veiled tried once when he was a baby. But, he did it once that day and that was it. He was close to 2.5 years now.

Hahahaha! Your comment before you edited made me laugh at my computer! I think chams would have the selling skills of 'Rodney' rather than Del Boy though!
It helps to be a bit barmy in the UK - have to make up for the crap weather somehow, lol!

Yes, it could very well be she will not be interested in fruit or veg until she is older. Its also possible she will never be interested - but I do think it's good to try offering to her at least occassionally. Veileds do often like veg, and sometimes panthers too.
