How much UVB does soft mosquito net block?

Hi there. I’ve created an outdoor enclosure for my veiled chameleon. It use to be just a screen with about 1cm gaps….But he would eat anything that landed inside…Decided to put a soft mosquito mesh around. How much UVB will this stop? Just worry that he’s not getting enough now? It’s a soft material.

Thank you in advance guys

So its a simple calculation if you know the gauge of the hardware cloth and the mesh size.

As a rule of thumb for "window screen style", galvanized blocks 1/3, and vinyl blocks half.

But i wouldnt worry, outdoor UVI measurements are normally 5.0-7.0, and they dont go down as they enter the cage. So its not like a T5HO where intensity drops by 2/3 18" into the cage.

Plus you can check your local weather for the UV index of the day.

So it’s a soft material, definitely not metal. Very flexible.

Usually the UVI is around 4-9 around this time of year.

Spacing between grids seems like 2.0mm x 2.0mm.

Im guessing it standard window screen, which is vinyl "because its soft". So that would be 50% light blockage.

But even if the UV index is 4, and its blocking 50% down to 2, thats 2 "throughout the cage". That is completely different than "2 at basking and .2 a foot farther away".
