How much should she be eating?

Hi I have a 8 month old veiled. I was just wondering exactly how much she should be eating. I feed her in the morning and she eats about 15 medium crickets.
Usually in the evening when I come home she's sitting at the bottom of the cage begging for more. She would probably eat 25 if I gave them to her. How much exactly should she be eating?
 
See images below. You need a variety and they have to be gutloaded properly. And as Joxie said you need to start limiting your feeding amounts. With females you have to be very careful with feeding because it directly impacts the amount of eggs they lay. You don't want her to have a huge clutch from being over fed. @JoXie411 can speak to this better because she has a female veiled.

Okkkkkkkk I am going to jump in here. They came back to ask questions not get slammed. So lets not slam them. This forum is to help people. They got a new Cham so lets help them have a good experience and ensure that the Cham has everything it needs.

@Paskie Your welcome. Would you like to go over your husbandry to ensure that you were given all the right stuff at the pet store? Also I believe you said last time you ordered the new lighting. Did you get that and a mister or automatic misting system?

just confirming that this is definitely a new cham, older and female... females are much harder to keep so be prepared to have your hands full. they are finicky and require a lot of tlc, males are like tanks, females are not. have a 12x12x12 laybin ready filled with wet playsand but not too wet, just wet enough to be able to form a tunnel.

Ok good. So with a female as already stated they are more fragile and have specific needs. You will want to read up on lay bins here is a good blog post for that https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/egg-laying-and-the-laying-bin.345/

I want you to have a successful experience this time and your Cham to live a long healthy life. By the time you posted for help last time it was too late but by correcting prior husbandry issues and reading as much as you can. You will learn quickly and this can be a totally different situation this time.
Here is my list of what I think is really needed to have a successful experience. And I have attached all the help graphics for easy reference.

Drip tray you can buy for these is like a hotwater heater pan...

or you can spend more and get a better quality with drip tray for the water to collect like so in screen or clearside. The dragon ledges help attach potted plants higher in the cage. But he builds in a schedule so you have to pre order and wait to get your cham. or you can buy the drip tray from dragon strand and the ledges and get the reptibreeze cage.

FYI You will want to wrap at least the back and one side panel if not both of the cage in clear plastic like a shower curtain and attach with magnets so the water does not spray out.

Lighting for UVB and plant growth is dual or quad T5 HO fixture. You can look on lightyourreptiles.com These need to be the 24 inch fixture. UVB bulb you get will depend on the species of cham you get.

May need timers for different fixtures as well. 12 hour on and off for lights on chams.

Dimming Thermostat for Heat lamp can be used with any dome light and ensures you will not bake your cham as it will keep your bulb at the exact temp you need it at basking. Please ensure that you are getting a dimming thermostat. Herpstat and Vivarium Electronics both make dimming thermostats.

If you get a veiled you have to put large 1inch or bigger river rock in the top so they don't eat the soil. :)

Win over the nay sayers with solid husbandry! You can be successful. Theres so much good info here and good people who are experiencing or have experienced problems like you. Theres a podcast too. Dont be afraid to reach out even if someone may say something. YOU WILL FIND HELP HERE if you are willing to listen and show proof of the effort. I wish you the best of luck and Im rooting for you.
 
She is new. I went to Petsmart to get my daughter a hamster. They ended up talking me in to adopting her because no one would buy her. I felt bad because they had nothing for her to climb and she hadn't been handled much...They said they wanted her to have a good home and gave her to me for free. I couldn't let her sit there in that glass box so that was that. She is adjusting well but still a little grumpy.

So just read through everything that you can to make sure her husbandry is perfect ... And since she is egg laying age you will want to get that all sorted out for her. :)
