hey guys

Me again, our girl is 17 weeks and will be 18 weeks on Friday,

Just curious with how many grass hoppers should she be consuming on a daily basis ?

I see her drink daily and make sure she's misted regularly, I don't sit and watch get every minute of the day so it may just be I'm missing her eat? But I feel there's a lot of grasshoppers still in her enclosure, am I just being paranoid or should I maybe change her food? Make sure I calcium dust them on every feed, and gut load them with fruit and veg , she's still so young

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks

How big are the hoppers you are feeding?

We get the smallest ones, but by a few days theve grew :(

That's why I feel she's not eating them ?
Like I said I don't sit and watch her constantly but I feel there are still a lot of hoppers in her enclosure within a few days

Thanks for the response

A good rule of thumb to follow is to feed bugs that are no longer than the width between your chams eyes.

What I would do to gauge your chams food intake is to put a feeding cup in there so you can put X amount of feeders in the cup and come back after an hour or two and see how many she ate.

Great thank thanks for that. I will definitely give it a go, how many times a day should I put a feeder cup in there twice a day or just once?

I think that way is best as I will know how many she is eating it's so hard to get live food over here as not many pet stores do them don't suppose you know anyone in the uk ?

Thanks tomorrow I will to get a cricket cup & just put some in there but will they jump out in the enclosure and hide ?

Thanks again

I only offer food once per day until they are about a year old then cut back to once every other day. One or two may jump out but for the most part they stay in the cup.

Thanks for the response

Well today I went and bought some crickets thought I would change her food see how it went , I put a few in a cup & she took 2 almost straight away they are small crickets so I'm so happy she did take some maybe she don't like the hoppers and prefers the crickets as I've read this quite often is thr cause so I've just put around 5 crickets in a cup and put them in her enclosure and will see tomorrow if she had them I've put them quite high up so she don't have to go hunting them all the way down the bottom well mid high '

Just happy she's finally eaten :)
Thanks for your help Grave
