I have been around reptiles all my life and i have had chameleons for about five years now and i was thinking of making my own website. I was just curious on how many of you guys/girls would be interested in owning another chameleon so i can see the demand of them. If i see alot of people saying they would definately buy more then i will make my site and do a personaly favor and discount all cham purchases from people on this forum only :D arn't you people lucky!

I would purchase another chameleon if I had the money. Unfortunately my mother would kill me if I got another so soon.

I think there is a pretty high demand for chameleons, but the thing is that there are a lot of small breeders, and if you were wanting to actually make a decent profit you would need to switch chameleon caretaking to your full time job. It's pretty easy to tell the people that are making a good profit off chameleons, and they are well known and when you look at their site you see that they probably have atleast 20-30 males and probably double or triple the females.

I would love another cham, or 2 or 3.........., but I have nin with one on the way soon and eggs that MAY someday hatch so I am full at the time. But there is always tomorrow!!

I want more!! I know I will be bringing in another female or two of ambilobes (yeah I know the market is getting a bit saturated..but I like them!) and 2 more female jacksons...it's just a matter of setting up cages and and the misting system...they are very addicting :)

i would love to get another one, possible a pygmy but no money right now..i'm a college student...

Wanting and being able to have are two very different things. I won't go deep into breeding ethics, but it is good to keep in mind that the current economy is still going downhill and most people don't have time and money to spare. Along with that, you need to be sure that you are producing exceptional animals that people want. The definition of exceptional may vary person to person, but there are good general guidelines out there. It would be good for you to do a lot more reading to understand what would be good to breed more of and what isn't as desirable.

I have done my research and i definately know how to take care of my animals. My veiled is 2 months younger than a friend i know and mine is at least 2 inches longer and bigger, i have plenty and i mean plenty of space and cages and ficus trees for at least 5 more males and 8 more females so that is not a factor. I dont want nor do i need to go into depth about myself though even though i do know about what i would have to do and yes i do know it is a full time job and that is what i want. I love animals especially reptiles so this is a dream job because only place to go from a website is a reptile store and that my goal.

Good luck. I only know of two people that do chameleons as their only job and make a living on it: Ed and Liddy Kammer. I don't even know if Vince and Farrah from Screameleons make a living on it.

I think that if you are doing the best you can as a breeder, it is even hard to break even after a few years. There is a lot of initial set up cost and a lot of hard lessons that are invaluable but might cost you money and time.

i really want more and im looking to gettin pygmies next. but im pretty sure almost everyone wants more

This might not mean your taking better care at all. This might mean that yours has better genetic code then the other. There are large animals and runts in every litter or clutch.

I can already tell this is great feedback i am purchasing a domain name within a couple weeks and will have my site set up asap and ill post a thread for all you guys! :D thanks all!

Not me. I cut myself down to 1 Cham and focus my attention on him solely. :)

Kenya

Btw Kenya thank you for all your constructive criticism i can tell you just want me to know all the aspects and challenges i will face and i thank you for it.

I haven't got room for any more! Like blackbetty, I devote my time to Lily and her needs! Would love to get a Carpet cham one day, but one at a time is enough for now.:D

I think the only cham owners who don't want another chameleon are the people who have passed on.....:p

The only thing that has stopped me was the fact that I want to be able to give my one panther all the time and attention that he deserves (and requires).....

Heck if it was just a money issue, I know I'd be pawning my jewelry if necessary to purchase more.
