How long should Lights be on for?

I think I'm at a point now where I'm ready to get a cham fro my enclosure next weekend, I'm just doing a few things like set up the light timer, dripper etc. I've read some sites about lighting but they don't seem to say how many hours exactly the lighting should be on for?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Hello Simon.

UVB or heat light?

UVB lights usually between 10-12 hours.

Heat lamp you will have to find what works for you. i generally leave mine on for about 8 hours. To imitate outside. The sun rises and it is bright, but it's not yet warm. and t hen the it gets colder in the evening even though there is light outside.

Hope this helps

What species are you going to be keeping?
I leave all the lights on for about 12 hours a day, and I am not using a basking light for my female.
They seem to desire shorter hours of light in the winter, and usually go to bed when it starts to get dark outside, regardless of whether their lights are on or not. This dictates how the timer should be re-set.
We are just about back to 12 and 12 now though.

I'm on a 12 and 12 as well. At least until the chams get nestled into their little nook to sleep in. I put them to bed early if they've had a big day haha.

I like to have my lights on for 12 hours and then off for 10 hours.

Your math is off. Unless you live on another planet. ;)

Did you know the human circadian rhythm is based on a 25-hour day? It is reset everyday with exposure to light/sun.

I like your AV.

LOL BTW... I was kidding about the timing of my lights..... I just thought it was funny some posters were clarifying that their lights are on for 12 hours and off for the remaining 12 hours..... as if there was much of an alternative. :D:p;):D:p;)
