What chameleon, its probably Veileds so keep them together until you see the female go black with blue and orange spots.
If any other chameleon just wait until it starts hissing and going mad at the male.

I would wait, sit by and watch. Its what i did. You never know when she's had enough.
Its a long wait usually. Just get some snacks and a coke ;)

yes they are veiled, u were both right! we was in for a bit of a wait but then she went dark with orange spots and kept hissing athim so we've seperated them now!

We've never had a pair that breeded before, will they want to mate again before she lays?

hmm, if she turned to gravid coloration i think its enough? Or maybe someone else will answer

She will have nothing to do with him until she lays and becomes receptive again. I would wait 6 months before mating again, depending on what you are planning on doing with the babies once they hatch. Perhaps the best thing to do is wait until you have taken one clutch through the entire process to see if you want to do the whole thing all over again. Babies take LOTS of work and $$$ because they are voracious eaters. Each one will go through 20 - 30 fruit flies a day. Veileds have usually, between 30-60 eggs. If you don't find new homes for them by 2 months you will have to separate them. Lots of work. It is an adventure, don't get me wrong, but I would wait until you have hatched out your first lot.

Do you have a laying container ready? Tell me about it.
