Hi all....as the weather is so good here in the UK at the moment i was hoping to take Trixxi outside(just holding her in my hands)for a while...how long can i keep her out for?i don't want her to overheat or God forbid burn(is that even possible!)thanks for any help:)

The weather isn't so good on the IoW at the moment! It always seems to be windy where I live! Anyway, I let Lily have a couple hours in her 'sunning' cage during the afternoon in the summer. I check on her very frequently and also mist a lot too while she's out. When they are hot they sit and gape and display lighter colours. She had about 20 mins outside with me on Sunday. You can feel how warm they get.

How are you able to control her Tiff? Hugo has days where he tries to get out of his cage, and then when we have him on our shoulders we will walk into the garden. He goes dark green and just runs for it. He's a big fand of dropping to the floor, so we very rarely will try to take him out. Do you find Lily just sits there?

Thanks Tiff......what kind of 'sunning' cage has Lily got...i have an old bird cage....could i use something like that:confused:?How's Lily now?i was reading though the posts that you and she got....it's great that she so popular and all the support you get!Lily really does seem to be a special lady!:D

At the moment Trixxi is sitting on the window sill(inside)Temp is 83 she doesn't want to move and when i tried to put her back in the viv she tried to get back out so i let her!when she opens her mouth i give her a spray with her water...is it ok to let her she inside the window and if yes for how long??she loves looking out!and goes really black

Sounds like she is trying to get warmer.

Lily has an old chipmunk cage made of wire that I put her out in. Or if it's only a short while I'll just let her sit on my hand or shoulder. With regard to the window sill, I'm not sure how long - till she starts gaping meaning she's too hot probably. Just keep an eye on her. Bear in mind that glass blocks out UV, so the only thing she'll be getting is heat. Lily loves to heat bathe by the window too.

Lily will just sit in her outdoor cage or on my hand or shoulder. Maybe Hugo will calm down a bit when he's older. I do let her have a walk on the grass sometimes too, but nor near the tree, for obvious reasons!!:D

Thanks for your support with Lily, both of you. It's nice to have this community on here and to know that people genuinely care and can offer help and support and even a shoulder to cry on!

I have a big old birdcage that I'm going to put her creeping fig into and some vines and make sure she has a place for shade and sit outside with her to see if she likes it(weather permitting!)will post some pic's

That sounds like a great idea Ronnie! I have an old sheet that I peg around the outside of the cage if it's a bit breezy, and also an old towel for the top to provide some shade. Be warned that they enjoy natural sunlight so much that they don't always realise that they are too hot and need to move! Sometimes they just sit there with their mouths open to cool off! When Lily does this I mist her move her back inside.
