How hot is too hot?

My veiled enjoys going outside. We even got him a big schefflera to hang out in occasionally. However i’m worried about the temperature. It about 80F ambient temperature. (It will start to go up to 90-100F in summer) The issue is in the sun my temp gun measures his basking area about 95-105F. So, will he not be able to go outside in the summer? And is it already too hot?

Part of that is the humidity level. You don't look like a dry area so I will guess normal ranges. He can go out just not in full sun. Make sure at least half of his area has shade. On the very hot days 95+ you may not want to leave him out for long. The biggest issue with temps that are too high is simply dehydration, which leas to kidney problems. So if he is out on a day and the temps get high for a couple hours and it is not super dry and he has proper hydration in his cage. There will be no issues. If he is kept hot and dry without proper night time hydration this can lead to the dehydration issues.

I would suggest taking him out in the morning before the sun is actually at its peak and the hottest part of the day. They can dehydrate fast. The temps your saying are prime temps for heat issues with chams. Especially in full sun. Even with partial shade make sure you have a dripper going if your leaving him for any length of time.

I would think he'd have the innate sense to seek shade to get out of inordinate heat—BICBW.
I don't have a veiled, but I would check climatic conditions for where veileds actually live.
IIRC, there was a thread about this at one point. That should give you an idea of temperatures & RH they can tolerate.

Exactly the shade is key. If he can get to a good shaded area where he can cool. In his home region 90 would be about max occasionally a bit hotter.
