How do you make a new chameleon eat?

Hi guys, I just got a jacksons chameleon from flcham. He's 9-12 months old. I put him into a 18 by 18 by 36 enclosure full of foliage.
Here's the problem, he is still a little frightened probably due to the new relocation and doesn't know how to eat from a fixed cup (I put a cup with crickets inside in his cage). When I held the cup near him, he just ran away and did not even look inside the cup. Since there are so many leaves in the cage, I didn't want to just through crickets in the cage either because most likely the crickets would hide in the plant soil.

This is my second chameleon, unfortunately, I forgot how I made my first veiled get used to cup feeding. Any suggestions on how to make him eat?

Weird. Ringo, my male, I got from FLCham ate out of the cup right away. He loves to hunt those so I only put the worms in his cup. IDK how long ago you got him but give him time =)

My female, Angel is doing the "I dont want you t watch me eat" thing so she stays in 1 place til I leave then eats.

Just place the cup and make sure there is a branch with a nice vantage point looking down into it. He will figure it out and eat when ready.

/\/\This.

He is probably too scared of you right now to eat from a cup you are holding.
I would also recommend releasing a few for him to hunt;)

Thank you for your replies. I probably will have to cut some leaves to clear out the view for him. I just got this guy today. Jacksons are just so cute (mostly because he doesn't hiss when I go near him, unlike my veiled:D)

I wouldnt worry about too much foliage being an issue.
I keep my jacks cage very packed.
Sure they mostly move so slow you cant tell they are moving at all:rolleyes:
but they are great hunters.:) Do you have a pic of how he is set up?
It cant be THAT:eek: much foliage...
;)
