How deep should hyrdoball layer be in Bioactive enclosure?

I am setting up a bioactive 24x24x48 Viv for my male veiled. I plan on misting for about 20 seconds, 3 times a day, with a 3-4 inch layer of substrate, and 6 plants. How deep should the hydro all layer be?

About an inch or two, doesn't matter too much. It's nice for the roots to grow down into.
