How can u tell

No veileds are generally easier cuz of the tarsal spurs "bumps on the back of the feet" that makes it male , without one it is female in veiled chams....

panthers you look for the tail base, color(not always , can be misleading), and great experience with the species......thats all i know:p:D

generally female pantehrs are brownish, tan, peach, orange,

males are darkish black, dark blue, some other colring, reds, etc, its easier to tell when they get older, cuz the males get really colorful:p

hope this helps....

veileds can be sexed at birth, as stated, by the tarsal spur (bump on his back heal)

panthers are determined more around the juvenile stage by the base of the tail and a hemipenial buldge. a thicker tail base means male.

It does kinda I am looking to get a panther from a local pet store. Was wondering how to tell cause they don't sex them. Want a male cause I new to chams and scared I would not be able to take care of female with eggs and all. Sorry for it being so long.

Its cool man:)

maybe you can take pics of the chams , and the people on the forums can help you which one is male:D

post pics once you made your choice:D:cool:

If the pet store allows, take a picture and post it up here. If the panther is old enough, we will be able to tell.

Ok thanks alot. Would it he better to get one from sponsors.

your chances are better of getting a healthy cham, some are decent prices, ans you are likely to get a stud:cool:...IMHO go for one of the sponsors:cool:

Ok sound good thanks. What is the best one to get it from

I cant really say for all sponsors, but research all of them, and only YOU can decide which has a cham YOU like, if THEY have a good price for YOU, and recommendations from past costumers...

I only got one cham from "KAmmerflage Kreations" and i gotta say , they have some awsome chams!!!( other sponsors got babies from them that made their own chams famous ...ex: Dr. Gonzo/Tiki Tiki Reptiles"..the father was from the Kammers, i believe:)"

check their website "www.chameleonsonly.com"...their prices are a bit on the high end, but from my experience they Are worth it..give em a call ...Liddy and Ed are super nice...:)

good luck man:cool:

theres a bunch, im not in the usa so i cannot say which one is the best, but i just cant pick one and show favoritism, all our sponsors will take great care of you and your cham in regards to shipping and giving you a quality cham.

i commend you though on the decision of wanting a male because of understanding the risks and extra care of females. kuddos

All our sponsors are great. Just take a look at what locale panther you like and decide which breeder you want a panther from. There are other great people to get panthers from that don't sponsor like chameleonparadise.com, chameleons101.com, and chameleoncompany.com. Just look around and pick one that catches your eye.;)

While browsing, make sure you jump over to www.chameleonsnorthwest.com

They have some beautiful chams for sale. That is where I got my first one and I love him. He is extremely colorful and very healthy. Plus the owners of the place are really helpful and super cool. Easily worth a peek at what they have available (which changes often)

i cannot choose for you, find a chameleon that fits your budget and fits your personality. or just look at different chameleons of a specific species you're interested in. ambanjas and ambilobes are popular for first timers, but it is a locale that is more popular in petstores and pet trades, or if you want a chameleon who is more forgiving if a misting or watering is not supplied for some reason at some time, and is more forgiving on temp rises once in a while, i would go veiled. and even in the veiled trade there are different breds, (high colours : tourquoise, yellows, oranges) you pick! :)

Thx for your input..will look into it more :)

in my interest : high turquoise female veileds are awsome, and only certain female panthers catch my eye...doesnt matter the locale...

Yeah that will be one of my next ones. I should be ready for number 2 by next year. It will either be a baby from Azure, Blue Baron or Gladiator.

OP! You gotta check out these chams lol. I am getting excited for you as picking out the cham and talking to the breeder is a whole other aspect of chams that is very much fun.

Let us know which way you go!
