How can I get him to move?

He's been in his old cage for 2 days now in the sameeee spot up against a wall.
I want him to move out into the bigger cage but how can entice him to do so?

just hold a cricket or whatever he likes to eat most in front of him and lure him out.
But it´s not normal for a chameleon to not move for such a long time, if this doesn´t change in the bigger cage, you should take him to a vet, which is always the best choice if anything seems abnormal because in many cases this means that something is wrong.

The only way to entice him out is with food or just leaving the door open......is his old cage too small now? This may be why he's just sitting there, so get him out by hand if you need to, and keep a close eye on him in the new place. Remember that they are often off colour for a few days when they move house

i can absolutely understand him not liking any of those two cages.
First of all there are was to less plants inside (which aren´t even real plants), same goes for branches. The branches inside are way to thick so he can´t grab them well.
What you need to do:
get new (real) plants like ficcuses and schefflera so he has the possibility to hide if he wants to.
-get the old cage out so you can get everything ready before he moves in, then get him inside with the method describes above.
- get a lot of branches in different diameter, but not as thick as the ones you use now, and place them in different ways, most horizontal or close to.
- if the bulb is standing on the fly-screen you need to ger a little distance, otherwise he might burn his feet while climbing

Take the small cage out of the big cage, take him out of the small cage and put him in the big cage. It will take him time to adjust to the big cage but in the end he will appreciate it.

I have a Hibiscus waiting to go in as well as a ficus. The cage is just in the way now.

Are the dowels to wide for him?

No the bulb doesn't touch the screen.

yes the dowels are to wide, he should be able to encompass them.
You should place the plants inside before he moves in, because it will be very difficult and stressy (for your cham) to get them in when he´s inside.
It´s better to use real branches, because he can grab them better with his claws as they have bark.
So please remove the small cage, get the big one ready and then get him in.
You should also increase the distance of the lamp, because he might still ger burned if it is to close. You might just have another lamp wich does not get as hot as your spot (a neon tube) to give him more light.

Well with the small cage inside the big one how its the op going to add more foliage and branches? I guess I shouldn't assume the op knows how to properly furnish a cage.

The chameleon had been in a cage that is WAY to small for too long and the op had been made aware of it.

I understand keepers in germany are very successful but we do things a little different and have very different products available to us here in the US.

don´t get me wrong, the cage itself is absolutely okay, i myself keep my chamaeleons in screen-cages, if thats what you meant. I wanted to say that the cage with it´s current equipment is inproper for keeping a chameleon, which was before i knew that he plans on giving it more plants and branches, and absolutely right as he could never get the right humidity because he has neither real plants nor soil and the branches used are also improper or would you disagree?

op means original poster, so yes, you are
What you should do is get the new cage ready with smaller branches too, and plants, and make sure the temps are good, etc.
Then you should put him in, say 'here you go' and then leave him in peace for a bit.

There is no reason to put the small one inside the big one - this just makes things a bit more complicated - do it the easy way......
