Houston, we have a problem.

Handsome Jack got off of his free range setup today and we can't find him! Can someone give me the procedures and stuff and tell me what to do if a chameleon escapes?

Then I would check the "c"s- cords, closets, curtains and coathangers... Think elevated but somewhat hidden. Good luck!

We haven't found him yet. He's 5" long at most. My mom said she'd look for him-in the mean time I had to go to school so I can't really look for him from here.. But our whole house is making sure we watch every step we take and making an effort to find the little guy. I just hope we find Handsome Jack soon. If something happens to him I'll be so devastated it's not even funny.

Check behind things where cords are. He might have climbed up behind something. Good luck and I hope you find him soon!

Especially if those cords are close to something that gives off heat, like a computer tower or something like that. My granddaughter and her mother had a golden gecko that got out of its enclosure and they thought it was long gone but found him months later, fat and happy. They figured he had been hanging out in the basement eating spiders. Hope you find your guy soon though!

You can also try setting up some heat lamps and some climbing branches under them (dowels work) and see if he gravitates towards them.

The one escape I had was luckily in an enclosed room and he was ALLL the way up top (about 6" from the ceiling) on a cord for my Jacksons chameleon.

So I would definitely be looking UP versus down. Cords going anywhere are good choices. Also, anything that gives off even a little amount of heat (TVs, bottoms of fridges) etc are possibilities.

Good luck finding the little guy!

I turned on his basking light and positioned the cord for the UV light so it leads up to his plant. Thank you all for the help and stuff.

Well, we finally found the little buttmongrel. He was just hanging out on a decorative thingy in our living room.

"Buttmongrel" is the funniest thing I've heard all day. Glad Jack is back where he belongs :D

I'm glad you found him - I one time stuck my head in the my cage to look for my little guy and he somehow got on my head - he was really little at the time - scared the crap out of me when he landed on my chest about 20 min later- while I was still looking for him -
