Hot days and lights?

With summer fast approching and days getting hotter, Do you still leave the basking lights on or just shut them off for the day? If you leave them on what do you do to make sure it doesnt get to hot? fans, AC mist more? I would think the AC or fans would cause havoc with humidity. Thanks

I haven’t had any issues with humidity dropping dramatically while runing my central air. I do however humidify the room with a regular human grade cool mist humidifier. Leave the basking lights on. Not sure how many times per day you mist I am up to 6 times per day!

Down here we run our ac almost 9 months a year. No issues with humidity, of course our rh is about 80-90% every day outside so inside even with no misting the rh is at about 40-50%. So i mist 3x a day and my enclosures stay above 65% and peak at about 70% right after mistings. ;)

I lower the wattage in my basking bulbs during the hottest part of the year. If your home is too hot even without any basking bulb (there will still be light from the UVB tube) you will have to find ways of cooling the room, such as AC and fans. If your humidity is too low, regardless of time of year, then yes you'd want to mist /drip more.

I am at 59% and have not misted once today in my indoor cage! Of course, that is because my chameleon has been outside since 10 am!! You all should move to Florida! It the ideal place to have a chameleon!!
