Anyone keep these or know some tips on care?

I bought a small (100) colony last summer and nothings really happening. I dont see any growth, no nymphs, they dont eat much of the foods i am offering (which is the same for all my roaches). Im starting to see die off, so something aint right.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How have you been keeping them? I like this species a lot. I have noticed they are very shy and stay under the substrate most of the time and if there set up is not just right they won't breed.males only get about a inch and a half long and females get to around two and a half inches they are kind of small anyways.... I keep mine in a tank so they can see a day night cycle they need a deep substrate that is damp and like there temps around 75 to 80 degrees if it is to hot they won't breed or eat. Have you seen any of them doing the Mickey mouse mating dance lol. It's cool to see when they do that. Also mainly what my colony eats is oak tree leaves and wood chips they don't really touch the roach chow much....oh and awesome avatar its about time lol :D

Sup man, where you been hiding?

O'wow, ive been failing everywhere. I keep them in about 2 inches of dry substrate. Temps in the mid 80's to mid 90's. Ill have to round up some oak tree leaves. Any type of oak tree do? Also what type of wood chips? I have not seen them dance yet.

Thanks for the help.

I have been around just keeping a little more to my self and helping were I can:)... And yeah man cool them down just a little and I use any oak leaves and wood I just don't use live oak but I am sure that's fine to. I mainly use dry red oak leaves and red oak wood chips those guys are awesome decomposing machines lol. And oak has a lot if natural enzymes and good stuff in it to :).

Oh and just wait man the males will all get around a female and point there wing buds up and look like Mickey mouse and rock back and forty to get the female's attention its to funny :)

I use to have a small colony of these as well and really liked them. Think I am down to two now and they are in with another colony. I had a heat pad issue that cooked most of them  they are a really cool species and yeah don't eat gutload very well. I had mine on oak and cypress. I also misted a few times a week to keep it a little damp. Wish I still had them.

Clark: I think i have cooked some of mine too

I have a shingle oak in the back yard. Im going to try some of these leaves. Good ol'indiana weather has most of the trees bare now so looking for a red oak will be fun :)

How do you guys offer water to these?>

Water crystals and oranges .

I wanted to breed these species of roaches. They look so cool and interesting. If your colony ever grows, let me know. I would really be interested in purchasing some from you.
