Hornworms growing to big

I'm not sure I'm putting this in the correct forum but... I have 8 hornworms that have gotten to big for my 6 month old Panther. Is anyone in the Daytona Beach area interested in them? I'd love to work a trade for a few roaches. I've never tried roaches so I'd like to see if my Cham will eat them before I start a colony. If not, I'd still like to give the hornworms away rather then squish them.

I let mine pupate when they get too big to feed. All it takes is a little soil, small container and time. That being said, the moths that emerge are still too big for my 6-month-old - he got scared the first time I tried - but your cham might be more aggressive. Just a thought.

They probably won't last long enough to trade. They will start to turn into the moths. Your cham will DEFINITELY eat them then!!! In the future, you can keep them in a cooler room 70-72°f to slow their growth, while waiting to be eaten. I keep mine in the coldest room of the house's closet, which has a wooden floor. It ranges from 68-72°f.

What do I need to do to turn them to moths? I did keep them in a cooler with an ice pack on the opposite side. It did slow them a lot but my guy only eats one a day. Next time I'll order less but I thought he would eat them like crickets. He loves flies so I'll try the moths but do I just leave them alone or do I need to do something to help them along?

Just put them in a plastic tub with moist soil and some egg crate. Maybe a couple sliced of oranges to and they would suck the moisture from them.
