hornworms grow too fast!

while at a reptile show i grabbed some dubias, silkworms and hornworms. the hornworms are on the small side which is the way ide like them to stay, but as you probably know they grow very quickly. the lady there said to put them on the door of the fridge for a day, then take them out for a day then put them back for a day etc and this will slow down their growth rate. anyone done tht before? is tht good advice or would it kill them? also, the food in their cup is on the low side and i was told tht i could feed them romaine when the food depletes. i remember reading somewhere tht they will eat certain veggies. suggestions anyone?

the fridge thing works... i do that and it helps control their growth

the warmer it is the faster they eat and get bigger

I usually get an extra cup of food w/ mesh and when they really get going I divide them between the 2 containers. I have never tried anything else as far as feeding them other stuff and although my cham likes the horns I too don't like how fast the grow. They end up getting wasted. I didn't know you could refrigerate them until I saw your thread :). Think I'll try that ne myself next time.

lol yeah in the fridge for a day is okay and the next day outside...NOT the freezer lol:p

they dont move when you take them out but after awhile in getting some heat from your hands alone they eventually start to wiggle a bit

i will def try the fridge thing now, thnks ace :) and i tried to get some cups with food, but noone had them at the show, so i hope the fridge slows them down enough to stop their gluttonous behavior!
