So I often put all the adult hornworms left over when I run out of food into my chameleon’s enclosure for him to forage. He always misses a few and they end up turning into moths. Until recently, he was eating them. The last dozen or so hatched, then die in a few days. I run a bioactive environment, so there’s no need to pull out the dead bodies as they’re gone in a few days. Well, the last few days I’ve had a couple moths come out of the substrate at the same time. I didn’t think anything of it, but I just noticed I have hornworm eggs all over my enclosure! Not sure if they’re fertile, or will survive to hatch, but it will be cool to see what happens. This “jungle in my living room” never ceases to amaze me.
