Hey fellow cham enthusiasts!
super stoked on my new cage, it took a few days and around $150 for all the materials (i had some stuff lying around that i didnt have to buy) but Dali (my 3.5 yr old veiled) seems to be loving it!. figured i'd show it off here to see if anyone's got any other ideas how to pimp out my chamansion
It's 3ftx3.3ftx7ft which is a MAJOR upgrade from his tiny little 2x2x4 cage. He used to hop out of the small cage whenever i opened it up but now he seems very content just hanging out in his new one. He's always a very bright green and loves to explore, he seems to sleep in a new spot every night. Plus, he's got a little turtle friend next door to him (a red eared slider) that he seems to really enjoy. I always catch them in staring contests and he never seems to be stressed out by the other retpile.
I'm planning on getting some vines to hang down so he has more hiding places up top. I tied up the Ficus to the bamboo so the branches wouldn't fall when he's climbing on them (he's a big ol guy). He was having a hard time gripping onto the bigger bamboo pieces so i just wrapped them with some rope to give him a little more traction...he got a pissy when i was moving the rope around, he must have thought it was a snake or something! I made sure to secure everything very well, did a shake test on every branch, rope, and plant to make sure its cham safe for all of his crazy climbing escapades.
anyways, the only annoying thing i've found so far is spraying him. I'm gonna try to make a drip system to put on top of the cage b/c i can't just go above him and mist until it starts to dribble like i used to do in the small cage. Ive tried to just catch his attention with it dripping off my finger and he'll usually try to snag it with his tongue until i lure him over and i can get above him with the spray bottle but the new way requires a little more time.
Any questions/comments/modifications that would make him that much happier with his new home would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers!
