Holy leaf 😳

Needed to trim back some plants in Neo’s enclosure, because they were taking up all light for the lower based plants.

And this was the king of leafs and probably would fill a normal enclosure 😱😱

I don’t know why I feel bad about trimming my plants. At a certain point more isn’t better and it inhibits your cham’s mobility within the enclosure. Plus you’re absolutely right, it’s healthy to trim the higher plants and give the lower plants some light. I learned how to propagate new pothos plants from clippings and then thought what the heck am I doing? A mature pothos with long vines is $15.00 US by the end of summer!

Maybe it’s because you read that article that someone on here posted that talked about how plants feel pain. 😅

Same here, but it’s needed! At some point they grow extremely hard. And take over everything, light, space, misting drops etc.

Absolutely feel bad about it, especially when some stems are dripping moisture 😢 kind of hurts seeing it.

Well some plants over extend themselves, like roses and do better with clipping. It makes the plant healthier by focusing resources in a smaller bush which leads to better blooms. Pothos too can just go and go with long vines and that takes a lot of effort for the mother plant to send water and nutrients down that long of a vine. Clip em

True, but in my case not completely. The pothos shoots air roots, same as the monstera and philodendron, and those roots go down till the soil were it feeds again. I‘ll shoot some pictures of it tomorrow, at the bottom the vines are less then pink thick and at the top of the enclosure more then thumb thick with gigantic leafs. Truly fascinating to see, it‘s like tropical weed and completely invasive.

When I was watching videos and reading up on pothos propagation I learned each leaf segment has its own small brown nub that throws down roots. There is a Banyan tree in Maui that’s been in the news because of the fires in Lahaina. I was there a few times and marveled at the roots thrown down by the branches, which would create new trunks. The tree is enormous. Same concept I suppose.

Thanks for the great vid. Jip, same concept 👍🏻 They know how to survive above everything, almost on parasite like level.

I ended up keeping my pothos clippings and they grew roots in mason jars of water. I used some dirt from under my Cana Lillies because it’s apparently rocket fuel. I found a praying mantis under those Lillies but just let him be. Probably has parasites and we don’t need that. Now let’s see how they do! Oh and I found a little friend while digging. He asked to help me go bioactive and I said no, bare floors only in this house!

Ok, now I gotta step my plant game up? The nerve of the people on this Forum. Always challenging me to step my game up, learn more, feed creepy crawlers, hunt grasshoppers, now plants! My world has expanded 10 fold. If I ever have another Science class, I'm gonna sit in the front row, pay attention, and do extra assignments just to keep up with ya'll. 🤭
