I am driving from Florida to the Midwest for Christmas... going from warm/humid climate to cold/dry.... any tips on traveling with a 4 month old veiled? I will be gone for one week

Well, first question would be do you need to take him along? Chams don't like change in their routine.
If you don't have a choice and must take him, using a temporary cage will make things a lot simpler. Reptariums are great for this, as they can be taken apart and set up when you arrive places. You'll need to bring his basking and UV light, feeders, spray bottle, supplements along. If you only need to worry about the car ride, most chams do fine in an enclosed cardboard box. They basically nap the hours away in the dark. Wedge a branch in the box so he has something stable to perch on. You can put a damp towel in the bottom for a bit of humidity. You can keep the box a little warmer by putting a plastic bottle filled with warm water in the bottom until you can heat up the car. The temps don't need to be extreme, just mildly comfortable. He can go without basking or UV for a day or so. If you'll be staying at a motel along the way you can set up the cage with some fake foliage and branches when you arrive.

What part of Florida do you live in? Fl definitely has a great resource for reptile pet sitters. I would try and keep your guy at home. Also, going ahead and setting up your away plans will make for a happier pet in the long term. Check with vets who treat exotics for pet setting referrals. I would also invest in a mister such as a MistKing- it really makes time away easier!

The short answer is no, I don't have to take him with me. However, the only pet sitter option has no experiment with chams and I would much rather take him win me so I know he's getting the proper care. I'll be gone for a week and would know he's getting the correct care if with me.
I would be driving and could plug the basking light into my car to keep the temperature up if needed.
My main concern is that it's 80 and humid here... and in 18 hrs the climate would be blistering cold and dry.... once I reach my destination, he would have his normal setup until we pack up to drive back 7 days later.
Do I take the risk of an inexperienced sitter or take the risk of changing his environment twice in a week span with two 18hr car rides in between? (Not to mention my uncle really wants me to bring him with me so he can see him) haha
