so, starting last summer, i work at a farm an hour away from my house. ill usually stay the week and come home on weekends. during the school year, i try and get down one weekend a month to keep the horses refreshed on their training. THIS summer, i probably wont stay the whole week, but maybe a friday-sunday sorta thing due to work...but now that i have linus, im not sure what to do. as much of a help my brother is, i dont trust him to take care of him for long periods of time...and i dont wanna hire a reptile sitter, or anything like that. is there some sort of way i can have a setup at home, and one at the farm (in the house of course) and bring him back and forth every week, or is that too far fetched and would stress him out? it is an hour drive...id hate to skip the farm completely as im getting one of the foals born lastyear and need to do some serious work with him...

That sucks.... I live in Texas and I got to leave Sunday to work in Louisiana for four days I'm just glad my bro knows about reptiles so he can watch him for me...:)! That does sound kinda stressful, but it all depends on your chameleon. Good luck!!!

i dont think it would be that stressful for him to go back and forth.
you could try it and see how it goes.
or you can get an auto timer for your lights, an auto mister for your watering,
and just ask your brother to throw some bugs in.

or linus can go two days without food and eat when you come back.

Amanda I would try taking him along and if he doesn't stress way to much them you will be fine. If he does then I set up as much as you can for him at home and see if that works.

well, ill have to try and see how his reaction will be taking him back and forth, maybe he'll eventually enjoy the ride ;) haha, but i still need a backup plan if he doesnt like it. i have a timer for the lights, but getting a mister would be a problem as im semi unemployed :p

i just wanted to make sure it wasnt too far fetched of an idea :p

If it's just 2-3 days, I'd make the set-up automatic and just leave him. I think it would be money better spent if you invested the $100 into a misting system over another cage, plants, and lights. If he has his lights and mister on a timer then the only thing left is food, and an adult Jackson's can go 2-3 days without eating without problem.

well maybe all the members you are do drawings for could chip in a few bucks and get you a mistking.
i know im in..... and i bet i can speak for Laurie and say she is on board as well.
how are the drawings going by the way??

I agree with Olimpia. With an automatic watering system and a good meal before you leave he will definitely be fine for a long weekend. I throw extra crix in the cage before I leave so he has more than usual and there's some left over for the next few days too. I think that will be much less stressful for him (mine really don't appreciate travel) and you won't need two setups. Even if you only trust your brother far enough to mist or fill a dripper that would be enough. And if not you can get an automatic system (still cheaper than a whole new cage setup elsewhere).

i have a few more done, and i still need to ship yours! im soo sorry for the delay, i ordered my big envelopes the other day and still waiting for them to come in :/ the post office was out..

oh no problem, i figured with the holidays and new year most people have alot to do and you would be busy.
cant wait tho :)

Hey if it is on a farm there has got to be plenty of hardware to work with. Just put a sprinkler on a timer and aim it at his cage.

hardware and scrap metal galore -.- the owners are from the depression era...they keep EVERYTHING!! they still have an original 65 mustang the husband bought for his first car...in good condition, just needs the engine put back in and a paint job...so im sure theres SOMETHING i could use :p but the issue wasnt finding a mister at the farm, it was getting one at home if i was to leave him there :p

You can buy cheap patio misting systems that will work fine for one cage. They arent as nice looking as a mist king but they will work. You just need to buy a seconds timer for the misting sessions. You could prob get the system & a timer for around $60 bux total. Thats a better solution than carrying him in the car for an hr each way 2x a week. Thats a lot of travel for a cham. If it were a dog or cat thats one thing....
