hissing

okay I know the bigger chams will puff up, hiss, and some try to bite, but I didn't know the pygmy varieties also display these behaviors. Today my female temp went outside for some sunshine and grass romping. When I tried to get her off my finger and back into her enclosure she puffed up and hissed at me. It was not scary, but kinda funny sounded like a mouse sneeze. Anyone else have a sassy pygmy?

You mean maybe they are like animals and all have different characters (or do you mean they are like people and the smaller the angrier?;))

along with puffing up and hissing some pygmies will vibrate!!! kinda wierd. on extreme cases they will fall down and play
dead. I've never had this happen though.

i am glad you mentioned the vibrating last nigh, because one of the "oopsie temps" did this today. Again trying to put back in the enclosure(after a nice shower and sun time) and she rumbled at me . I felt more than heard it but still really funny!

Maybe like dogs, the smaller ones have lots of attitude, precisely because they are small. My pug mix is mellow. My 7 pound chihuahua has a nasty streak wider than she is.
