hide box

Is it a good idea to make some sort of hide box for either my veiled or jacksons chameleons. The idea came from seeing my veiled settling in about an hour before lights out. He does not sleep all day hes usually quite active during the day. If its a good idea any suggestions?

chameleons would use the leaves and foliage to hide in, just use some type of foliage setup in a way they can hide in and/or under

that's what I was thinking since right now my veiled has a skimpy tree. I had to replace it since the old one was dying and with it being the time of year I had to take what I can get. He uses the leaves to hide like he should so I don't think I need it that much anyways.

Just add more foliage as suggested. That is all they need. You can use fake also, but you have to be careful and be observant as your chameleon may choose to eat the fake leaves of plant itself.

If you don't happen to have enough live foliage to make a denser hiding area you could use fake foliage sprays to fill in the "gaps". But as mentioned, watch for signs your cham is chewing on the leaves and don't select any that have tiny parts that are easy to pull off. None with fake berries. If your cage space is too limited you can always drape some fake foliage or vines over the outside to create a hiding area.
