he's here he's here he's here!!!!!!

Pretty much. My veield always basks (cept wehn hes wandered off his fr).
But my hoe basks only 99.3% pf the time, the other .7%, hes down towards the bottom of his plants, which freaks me out, so i mov him back to his basking perch and he stays there.

What kind of 'hooved' friend? besides a horse, what kind? ;)

just a horse :p havent seen her in awhile and took her for a short ride, she's soo good :) but other than my little cham being under his uv light for a bit, he hasnt basked at all, and the temp not under his basking spot is around 70, wish i could knit him a little sweater >.> but again, maybe he is thirsty and thats why he is under his dripper. i dont see him drinking, he's just all curled up.

also, i was talking to a friend of my moms, who was stationed in Hawaii and had a couple jacksons, she said they are very sensitive to smell, and thats how they determine their territory, and if i was to hang a pillow case or something in or around his cage, he would soon match that smell as his territory and see me as his momma a lot easier :D anyone hear of anything like this?

Awwwww! Congrats! :D:D I know just how excited you are! I was the same when I brought Monty home! Is he a Xanth Jackson? If he is then he looks a bit older than 5 months - Monty is almost 4 months and looks nowhere near that big! Monty's horns are also not as well developed (don't tell him though - he thinks he's a superhero today!! Long story - he's shedding and pics will follow later!!)

he is a Xanth, and i got him from fl chams, and they have 5 months on there, but theyve had that up the whole time ive been doing my research, so he is probably older.. :/

yes. He looks a lot older than five months :p anyway, I hope he gets used to you :p my cham is kinda shy too...

i just misted him again, and i think he hates it :/ likes the dripper though. i sneaked a pic real fast after i misted the cage :p

Congrats Amanda !!!!!

Just give him some time and keep an eye on him. He'll adapt to his new surroundings and be as happy as a carp in a cesspool before you know it.

I don't know much about Jackson's but I'm sure that some people that do will show up. Once again...............Congrats :)

BTW.........nice pictures

Awwww....such a nice lookin jacksons... he looks great and im sure with time you will handfeed him no problem. My first cham was a female jackson, very docile and awsome dino chams haha

Amanda I have kept Jacksons and based on those horns, your guy is well over 5 months. When he has settled in, a few days from now, try to get a s/v length and a weight. Those two will help guess his age. But I doubt anyone can be to exact.

He is just beautiful, congrats.:D:D

My guess is he is 8-12 months and he looks great! The basking temp should be about 80, maybe a few degrees warmer. But set up so that it is in one corner of the cage. Hope this helps. :)

his basking spot is about 75 right now, but he's not even in it, he's chilling in the middle/lower part of the cage :/

I would still up it to about 80. And being you just got him today, its still going to take some time for him to adjust. he'll start basking. As for him not liking the misting, sometimes it would take about a minute before my jackson would even start drinking. Just give him some time and he'll be happy as ever.

okie dokie, gotta change the bulb then, have a 75 watt in a dimming dome lamp, and only getting 75 degrees..will change to a 100 watt tomorrow morning, this way if it gets too hot, i can dim it :)

First thing in the morning I drop water on to a leaf near Monty and most mornings he will drink. He also has a dripper that runs all day, but I never see him use it.

i have a dripper on right now, and as i said, he is around the middle of the cage, but right under where the water drips, not sure if he's just really thirsty, or not, he's just chillin there :/

Nice Jackson you have there :D... and yeah I think he is way older than 5 months... hope he settles down soon.

LINUS PICKLES!!! shall be his name :D linus is the charlie brown character who carries his blanket around, and when the cham first came, he WOULD NOT give up his little napkin he was sleeping with :p and mom said he looks like a cute pickle with horns. thoughts?
