Herptivite

I would recommend Herptivite lightly once a month and Reptivite without D lightly once a month so your cham will get some vitamin A.

Ok... thats what im doing now, i've been seeing people saying twice a month... also Herptivite doesn't have Vitamin A in it... It has, beta carotene in which i think converts into vitamin A

Hebtivite

I give my Chameleon 2x week Reptivite & repiticalcium d3 by dusting his crickets and gutloading them with Bite..gutloading food/water, when he is not outside during winter months ..but I have him out quite a bit when I do he gets all his good vitanins and calciym from the natural sun..then i give him calcium plus by REPASHY without D3 when he is out in Ca sun which is probably most of the year..

Beta carotene does not convert to vitamin A. If you want you could just lightly dust with Reptivite 2 times a month and not use the Herptivite.

I'm new at this so bare with me... I'm just reading what the back of the label says.... Beta Carotene in an anti-oxident that converts into vitamin A....in a regulated way so there is no threat of vitamin A toxicity.... now when i first got my veiled i read on here that, thats what people used to vitamins...:)

If you search vitamin A you'll find allot of threads here about it. I don't know if you have ever checked out my blog for new keepers linked below but I recommend both Herptivite and Reptivite. I'm also attaching a couple of links to some articles from my chameleon vets blog.

Man am i confused.... lol.. Ok so it dose'nt convert to vitamin A.... Well, i use bug burger and i believe there's vitamin A in there, so at least he's getting some Vitamin A, I'm still trying to figure out if it's an vitamin problem or he just irritated his eye/ eyes.. he still seems to run his left eye on the perch,

Yes, twice a month with that product is fine.

We dont actually know if they convert or not, or which prey items do. If chameleons do convert beta carotene, its possible/ probable they are not efficient at it.

Its true that beta carotene doesnt build up in the system like preformed vitamin A can. It also doesnt play by itself - its part of a team of players, so if they others are off the field or inadequate, that can have an effect too.

I used herptivite for over a decade (twice a month) and provided no preformed vitamin A and still my chams were fine. Gutloading well a variety of feeders is the important thing, then you arent so reliant on supplements.

Yes, the bug burger is putting vitamin A into your feeders, so you are using bug burger as a frequent gutload item, you dont need to worry much about adding preformed vitamin A in the supplement IMO. especially if you are using a variety of prey.

that said, the advice to alternate between the herptivite and the reptivite (or repashy calcium plus or nutrobol or one of the others that provides multivitamins including retinol) is worth considering for sure.

you might find the info in this blog entry useful: https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/sandrachameleon/65-supplements.html

you can try increasing misting or use a saline rinse to see if there is something he is trying to get out of his eye.
