Well I am interested in helping make a Herpetology Society in my Area.. I see that there is more and more Reptile owners/ Lovers in my Area and I think It would be kinda cool to help create one. It would be beneficial to the Reptile Community and help the new Reptile owners succeed in keeping there Reptile.
Any thoughts on how I should go about getting on in my area?

As hard as it is for you to take care of the existing animals you have, I don't think the responsibility of a Herpetological Society would make life any easier for you. Wait until you are out of school and have a job and reconsider. If anything, ask an adult if they are interested.

Good luck.

Really Syn? Really? It's time to let it go.

Maybe he justs wants to get together with a few like minded people akin to the SBCK group?

syn, you need to stop putting everybody down. You give Arizonan's a bad name; expecially whey YOU cant even keep a chameleon to full maturity without it dying.

Well, I had offered advice along with my opinion. Oh well. :)

edit:

Where have you read that? I have an adult male veiled chameleon right now. But okay.
You are no better by posting what you have.

Dude, Syn, just leave it be LOL!
He just wants to help out and though he can't properly care for his own herps at the
moment its not like he said he wants to run the whole
thing by himself and take on all the responsibilty
he just wants to help make one.

Emotions are lost in typing, words can be seen various ways. It is hard for me to remember this because I tend to show more emotion when talking and not necessarily showing it with my words.
I am not great with words and tend to be blunt and seem off because of it. If you have talked to me in person, you would understand. :(
That is one of the bad things with typing, unfortunately.

I did not make this post to insult Zac, rather to offer a suggestion and reminder... However I can tell my posts are being read with an aggressive tone, it can't be helped. I'll take it in stride and move on. :)

Good luck, Zac. Sorry for sounding like an insult, it was not intended that way.

Okay guys, Don't be harsh to Syn. Syn, i didn't take it to offend, I am quite successful atm with my ONE and ONLY Chameleon. I just want to help start one. I know that the owner of the little petshop in my town was talking to me about it a few months back and many people ask me about reptile things, mainly turtle advice, so I thought that it would be a good idea to help start a Herp. Group in my area. :)

Post something on your local craigs list, that would probably the best way to get one started. See who would be down with getting togeather then just move foward from that point.

Thanks! I will do that! I will post flyers in the pet store, and contact my reptile friends in my town on Facebook.

I can finally remember what a friend had suggested to me over the phone when I had talked about starting a club a few days ago...

The best places to post information and flyers are...

  • Craigslist
  • Local Pet Shops
  • Community Bulletin Boards
    • Store boards
    • Housing community boards
    • Pet shop boards (I have seem some at Petsmart)
    • City Council Boards (but you might have to be careful with this one)
Well, that's all I can think of for now.

Thanks Syn! I am just about to go out of town, so since I have no school Monday I will make some tomorrow and distribute them around, I will try at my school too. (Since they are amazed at what I do.) lol!

Yup, but I would probably have an adult with you to explain why you are putting up flyers, just in case. I don't know if situations are the same in your area but sometimes if they see kids putting up stuff here they tear it down thinking it's a joke or something else.

alrighty! I will. The owner of the pet shop runs it all by her self. she leaves all flyers up for a few months at a time, I will have my mom run around with me to do that!
