there is nothing to do. You could be over supplementing with calcium and it is being excreted through his nostrils. They also excrete salts and minerals that way.

Some reptile species have a salt gland in their nose to allow them to excrete extra salt (not just calcium). Chams have this gland so it may mean that your water has high salt levels or that he's a little dehydrated. But it is totally normal for this to occur and is not harmful! Do not decrease calcium supplementation. No action required to remove it, just make sure he has access to lots of water!

I have not found one site anywhere that says calcium salts are ever excreted through the salt glands....every single site I have found says that lizards excrete potassium chloride and/or sodium chloride.

The last thing I think people need to do is read that the salts excreted are calcium salts and end up cutting down on the calcium supplements when they shouldn't. If someone has proof that its calcium, please post it!

good to know! just thought I had read this on here before. But then again I guess you cannot believe everything you read! Everyone needs to be more diligent like you and research! Thank you Lynda!!!

Probably just salt or calcium. How often do you dust with calcium? For now increase the water intake. It helps flush the system faster. If your not using calcium that much it's probably salt. From what I remember reading i think that's how chameleons dispose of extra salt in the system. Hope this helps :)

Hugh Wahl - please read what kinyonga posted above you. I have never found evidence of it being more than excess salts either and we should be careful not to imply that calcium supplementation should be decreased.

I don't have proof just what I've seen. My male panther had this same thing. I forget where I read it but some where I read it could be to much calcium. I cut calcium back and it went away. It has never return. This could be a coincidence, probably is after reading kinyonga post.
