I just got back from a funeral i had to be away for 4 days my chameleon had to be left, he is absolutely fine, however i noticed the uv bulb wasnt on and they had been left on a timer the basking lamp was on, so i checked and the bulbs blown but it gets worse it checked the fixture and its one side of the light fixture that has gone, so now i have a dilemma im not going to be able to get it all sorted for a few days as i bought it online its zoo med double light fixture.
Ive read you can get combined basking and uvb bulbs, should i try and get hold of one of them? and replace the basking with a combi for now? it was all working fine the day i went away and 2 weeks before so im not sure when it happened or how long hes been without uv.
Any replies asap would be appreciated thanks.

You can use one of the mercury vapor lamps. They provide heat and UVB. Exo Terra makes Solar Glo, I know there are others and you should be able to get them locally. The come in different wattages, make sure your dome can handle it. They should say what the max wattage is on it. Warning" They Get Hot. When I have used them I do elevate them off my screen top. Even with a Deep Dome, they put out some heat. Especially if you have a cham that likes to climb on the screen.

Someone here might have a better idea, base on your location, of what wattage you will need to get the basking temps you need.

Sure you can lots of people do. I guess people discuss the linear bulbs for coverage, but I'm sure if you are set up well you would have no trouble. I just bought one to use for temp enclosures and am going to use it on my free range. I had one when I had the Veiled female I liked it just fine,

I guess the only concern is managing temps while maintaining the same UVB...if you use a dmmer or move it closer and farther you may impact the UVB that the cham gets.

There is a really good thread on lighting I would check that out.
