Help with veilded eggs.

My chameleon laid eggs two days ago (47 of them) and I placed them into my incubator (Hova-bator). The temp. is maintained around 79*F but I've noticed that some of the eggs are denting or caving in.. what is the cause of this?I've been told that it means that they could be infertile but they're brightwhite.I've also been told that my humidity level is too low (around 80%-85%) and that could be the cause of the denting. Any suggestions as to what the problem is and how I can fix it would be greatly appreciated!!!

What do you have them in (cups with holes, lids, etc?), and what are you using as a incubation medium.

They're in a hova-bator incubator. Inside that they are in shallow tubaware containers with moist vermiculite. No they don't have lids on, should they??

How wet or dry is your medium? Sometimes eggs kept too wet, will shrivel and fail. Too dry will dent, while remaining bright and white.

Yes, to hold moisture in. Heat from incubator is drying them out.

So, if I put the lids onto the containers.. the eggs might be ok? Also, should the lids have a few small holes for circulation? Thank-you

I sent you a PM! Yes, poke some tiny holes in the lid with a pin or sewing needle, then place lid on tight. My experience is that if eggs dry out in first few days, viability rate is very low.

Oops.. I didn't notice the PM til now, lol Thank-you! Well there's lids on the containers now with a few little holes. I guess I just have to wait and see what happens!!! Thanks again for the help.

My experience is that if eggs dry out in first few days, viability rate is very low.

Unfortunately, The majority of the eggs ended up developing mould and had to be thrown out. Of the 47, 14 of them puffed back up. Fingers crossed that these little ones survive!
