Hi I sent my chameleon over to my girl friends house because I ran out of power from hurricane sandy... I brought him back home last night, this morning I turned on his light and he started shaking and it's freaking me out I use calcium with out d3 because I use repti sun UVB. He's in a little bit of a a small screen cage but I haven't gotten a chance to put him in his bigger cage.. I'm scared its mbd... Also he's not gripping the vines it's like he's trying to find his placing

Can you fill in above form. Please give as much detail as possible. You still need calcium with d3 even though you use a uv light.

Here is some recommended information to include when asking for help in the health clinic forum. By providing this information, you will receive more accurate and beneficial responses. It might not be necessary to answer all these questions, but the more you provide the better. Please remember that even the most knowledgeable person can only guess at what your problem may be. Thanks for quick response. You do not say the age of your Cham. As a guide it is recommended you use phosphorous free plain calcium every feed. Calcium with d3 twice a month and a multivit twice a month. You also need a uv light which you have. When you set up your new cage it is important you measure his temps at basking area, it should be low 90f for an adult , a little lower for younger. He needs this temp to be able to digest food. If this is the start of mbd by changing things it can be halted and youn baby can lead a fairly normal life.

Ok that's fine. I believe repti cal is plain calcium which is good. Now you need to source one with d3 and a multi vit both to be used twice a month. When is he going into his big boy cage? If he is likely to fall because of his grip it might be better to keep him in a small one with a towel at the bottom. How was he behaving before he went to your girlfriends?

I was going to Change him into his new cage today... The breeder I know said there no way he could have mbd because he supplemented his food every day since he was born..but idk ill get repti vite by this week

he probably was shaking because he was scared with his 'new' environment.
the house changes for him just freaked him out.

besides- shaking is not a sign of mbd.

That was another thing I thought is that he might of got scared waking up in my room again

There are a number of things I would change in the general care of your chameleon, but first off I would suggest NOT putting your cham into his new cage today. The recent changes in his environment could be the cause of his shaking and by putting him in another new environment could put him over the edge. Stress can have a huge impact on a cham's health so it would be best not to add to that stress right now.

In the meantime, leave him alone but feed and water him (but water him more - two times a day is not enough!) and then get on this forum and research, research, research.

Sandrachameleon's blogs are a great place to start. Good luck!

Well this was all from this morning idk how it is now u know....how long do u guys think I should wait to move him because cage is pretty small he's a decent size guy.

If he is used to the cage he is in I would leave him in it till he settles down. The length of time depends on him. My Cham behaves differently if I change a plant and it often takes several days for him to feel comfortable again.
