I am very skeptical what I am being told that this lil one is 3mos old.

Please disabuse me.

Yes thanks it’s clear to me that I’m being told a bill of goods.
I put “him” at 3 weeks or less.

If I had to guess I’d say around 6 weeks. What sex were you told ?
Male but I’m not to confident at this point. Looks pretty flat.
I’ll try to get a better shot soon.

Being that small and young you shouldn't need a heat bulb yet. I would ask some breeders on here they are so fragile that young.

Yea this is not ideal for us.

He actually got right through the larger mesh in the top and ended up in the UVB fixture. Hopefully I caught it soon enough.
I think I’ll leave the UVB off for a couple of days, he seems unaffected.
I almost had a heart attack.

So much preparation and I got hit with the curveball. frustrating.
I’ll start searching the panther baby threads.

Did the breeder not tell you how small it was going to be?

Let’s just say that if it seems to be too good to be true perhaps it is.

Got to relearn that sometimes.
I needed Jimminy Cricket but he was too gut loaded.
Hopefully we can make it through the wonder years.

Shh, Little guy is sleeping now..?

I don’t feel like I should name names here at this point.
it’s not a major breeder.
Just some lady.
2020
I should have pressed for more, better pictures and scale in the ones I saw.
This is the internet bargain hunters lament, I’m not new in that respect so shame on me.
I did get a concession for my complaint.

I’m hoping that I still have some reasonable expectation of the locale but that’s probably naive at this point too.

So it goes. The die is cast.

I’ll do my best to keep this guy alive he seems A1 this morning.
Hard to find specific info with a search but I did get some tips on baby care.
I restricted the roof screen access ??‍♂️
and and got some smaller prey.
I’ll be watching the heat and watering frequently.

We are all in.

Things are going fine
I think I can turn the UVB back on tomorrow,
Lil dude was striking a full lion-king pose this morning
looks pretty proud.

He’s Actively hunting and I know he ate a few big mouthfuls.
He seems to have occasionally darted at things I can’t see.

Unfortunately i think he didn’t really acquire a taste for the BSFl; not too interested in those today.
He actually took a repashy LoD dusted cricket from tongs just before lights out.
Straight up Sumo style, very encouraging!

the hardest part of this is going to be making sure he is eating enough cause the tank size and substrate make escapees vanish.
I saw someone in this situation put a smaller butterfly zip cage inside of their enclosure but I’m not sure if I’ll need to.

Extra showers during the day; as was recommended.

Hopefully I’m not hovering too much,
I had to jockey food dishes in there a few times.
the tank is behind a door so I’m just spying from cover as much as possible.

I think I need to do separate feedings to be sure he’s getting what he needs.
I put a tiny tupperware on the end of a stick that I can ladle up to him that doesn’t seem too disruptive & he goes after it.
Very hard to keep the little hoppers in it tho.

I’ve heard people say they can get “addicted” to eating super worms and that’s one of the primary things I have in his size right now so I’m a bit pensive about that.
