My veiled cham isnt doing too good he hasnt drunk or eating in the last few days we have fed him locus the other day and he wasnt interested in them so we tried him with some mealworms today but he isnt interested in them at all either, we thought he might be dehydrated so we turned the shower on and waiting for the room to fill with steam he was looking alot better after that but about an hour ago he started rattling and eventually he vomited, hes very weak, his eyes are sunk and hes all bright colours except for his head his head is very greyish but he doesnt seem to have lost any weight.
Could anyone help us???

First- not sure on that supplement type, but im going to say its wrong. Calcium without d3 for every feeding, calcium iwth d3 twice a month, multivitamin twice a month.
He shouldnt eat so many mealworms. not healthy, crickets, dubia roaches, locusts, much better feeders.
is the urate white?
his basking spot is way too cold. 80-85 is better.

sounds like a respiratory infection- needs a vet, asap.
can you post pics of him too. from the sides?

heres a thread with a list of vets by country. see if any are near you.
and a respiratory infection wotn go away with just steam. you need antibiotics. from a vet. sorry.

I forgot to say "Hi and welcome to the board". You'll find amazingly knowledgeable keepers here. I'm frankly in awe at the knowledge base here.

Mealworms are not typically recommended as a staple. Their outer bodies tend to be a bit hard and too much can cause issues.

When you say the poop is "normal color" what do you mean? Please describe it.

tried giving him crickets 3 weeks ago he eat 1-2 a day but that was it. the first batch of locus we had he ate but the second batch he wouldnt even look at them

Some chameleons are worm lovers and once they get a worm they don't want anything else. If the chameleon were healthy, I'd suggest not giving him any food for 3 or even 4 days, then giving him the healthier crickets or locusts. Whether you should try that with a chameleon that already has a health problem, I don't know.

Hoj, I saw that comment! Thank you.

**edited to add**

Okay, that poop sounds good. It's not unheard of for first time chameleon owners not to know what "normal" is. Sometimes they are very surprised to hear that "brown and orange" isn't, in fact, normal, so I always ask.

i posted a thread in here, a few posts upm with the vet list.
if it is an ri, vet is the ONLY one who can treat it.

Im sorry.
may have to risk a vet who doesnt know much. tell them he has an ri.
they might be able to diagnose that without having good knowledge on chams,
others can post what drugs theyve used and dosages so you can tell the vet that.

our sick cham
