I just got organic vermiculite and perlite for my incubation substrate. Can anyone help me, By telling me the proper way to set up how much of both substrates do I put in a container the size of shoe box and how much water do I put since my eggs are already in substrate I will be transferring as well. The eggs were laid wensday afternoon. Thanks

I have had a lot of success using just vermiculite, we t it until you can squeeze a fist full and just a few drops come out

I've used vermiculite for 25 years to incubate all kinds of reptile eggs on and it works well when just moistened as suzi described. I fill a shoebox sized container about half full of the slightly moist vermiculite, lay the eggs in dents made with my thumb in rows about one inch apart in all directions. This IMHO gives them the best chance of hatching when they are ready. Placing them close together makes them all hatch at once.

If you are moving the eggs be careful not to rotate/turn them when doing so.

What species are you incubating?
