Help sex 16 day old panther please

Hello, I have a 16 day old panther chameleon baby that I hatched. I am trying to figure out if it's a male or female but can't decide. If you expert out there could give me a hand I would truly appreciate it. Also, does he/she look healthy? I want to make sure I am doing all the right things for it.

Thank you so much!

Gosh I feel like I see a tiny bulge! 😂 I wanna say boy but I’m just a guesser. The colors tell me girl but it is soo tiny I feel like color wise at this stage, they all look the same.

If you are open to a husbandry review on your set up we would gladly look it over and give some advice. I can copy and paste the form. One thing I do know with itty bittys, no basking light til around 3 mos and uvb can be started right now with proper distance.
What a cutie and welcome to the group! Everyone is wonderful here, you landed in good hands on the forum. I advise stay away from Reddit and some Fb groups, they get mouthy, judgy and make us as keepers feel unworthy when half the time they are wrong. Here you will get consistent up to date recommendations kindly. And we have a cool monthly photo contest that gives us a chance to show off our babies. 🤩

Hi! I keep thinking I see a tiny bulge too, but then I'm not sure. The tail looks a little thin to me, but I'm obviously 100% guessing. Thank you😊

That's a good Idea, thank you! I have clearly already made 2 mistakes because I have both a 40 watt bulb for heat and the uvb uva t something? light bar directly on the screen.

I’m not good at sexing. On the vine I think male, but then on your hand, I think female. I do know though that you have an adorable cutie patootie. 🤗
LOLOL!!! That's kind of where I am. I just can't make up my mind. Male on minute and female the next. My kids named it Alfredo, Alfie for short. Male or female the name will remain the same.

Welcome to the forum and the stressful, overwhelming, but absolutely amazing world of chameleons. See my feedback in red bold. Let me know what questions you have. :)
  • Your Chameleon - The species,PANTHER CHAMELEON sex,? and age of your chameleon, 16 DAYS How long has it been in your care?AN EGG FOR 11 MONTHS, HATCHLING 16 DAYS So I have no clue. I can never tell when they are this little.
  • Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon? TWICE ACDAY TO MOVE TO FEEDING TENT VIA STICK. No moving baby... Need to leave it in the cage and have food available all day long. They are extremely fragile at this age and need to take down a ton of tiny bugs.
  • Feeding - What are you feeding your cham?2MM CRICKETS AND FRUIT FLIES. What amount? ALL HE CAN EAT IN 20 MINUTES TWICE DAILY. What is the schedule? 10:AM AND 5:pM. How are you gut-loading your feeders? FRUITE, MIXED GREENS, AND OATS. See info above. and omit the oats from your gutload. See gutload sheet. Avoid spinach if you are using it as it is calcium binding.
  • Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
  • REPTI CALCIUM WITHOUT 3 D EVERY 3 DAYS... You can lightly dust your feeders every day with plain calcium without D3. Repashy Supercal NoD is a really good one as it does not over coat insects like reptical can. Once baby gets a bit older you will start incorporating a good multivitamin like repashy LoD version 2 times a month only.
  • Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? DRIP 24/7 How often and how long to you mist? SPRAY MIST BY HAND UNTIL I LOOKS WET ALL OVER ONCE IN THE MORNING AND NIGHT. Do you see your chameleon drinking? YES Good both of these are great. Access to water is important for them.
  • Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. FIRMISH, BROWN WITH WHITE.. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites? NO
  • History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you. NO
Cage Info:
  • Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) ZOO MED REPTI BREEZE SCREEN CAGE. What are the dimensions? 16×16× 30 This is perfect for baby.At about 3 -4 months I would make sure you upgrade to the 2x2x4 size cage.
  • Lighting - What brand, ARCADIA PRO T5 UVB model, and types of lighting are you using? 40 WATT INCANDESCENT BULB FOR HEAT What is your daily lighting schedule? 12 ON 12 OFF FROM 8AM TO 8PM...No basking fixture at all right now they dehydrate really easily. Your proT5 what bulb strength are you using 6% or 12%? I want to make sure you have it lifted up off the cage at the right distance.
  • Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? FLOOR IS 72 AND BASKING SPOT IS 95Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps? TEMP GUN No basking at all. Temps that hot will kill baby. once baby is about 3 months had a heat bulb MAX temp then would be 80. If female it stays 78-80 if male never hotter than 85.
  • Humidity - What are your humidity levels? 60% How are you creating and maintaining these levels? CONTROLLED ROOM TEMPRATURE, MOIST SUBSTRATE, PLANTS, AND MISTING What do you use to measure humidity? DIGITAL HYDROMETER 60% is a bit on the moist side... 50% ambient humidity would be better.
  • Plants - Are you using live plants? YES If so, what kind? POTHOS Good.
  • Placement - Where is your cage located? BATHROOM Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? NO At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor? 5 FEET 5 INCHES... Make sure you are NOT showering if the baby is in the bathroom. Hot moist air is really bad for them and will create respiratory infections. Also no aerosol sprays of any kind, no spraying cleaning products, no candles, or incense. Their lungs are very sensitive even as adults.
  • Location - Where are you geographically located? BLACK CANYON CITY AZ. You will battle lack of humidity in AZ. So to combat that you will want to look into hybrid style cages and have lots of plants.

My Arcadia Pro T5 is the shade dweller 7%

My Arcadia Pro T5 is the shade dweller 7%
Ok this is why I always double check this. So you have the wrong fixture (due to the ballast for this kit) and bulb strength. And unfortunately you can not just buy the right bulb for the fixture because it will not work with the ballast on the shade dweller T5. So you want to get a pro T5 with the 6% bulb. And this is an ASAP purchase.

You will lift this fixture 4 inches off the top of the screen so that when baby screen climbs the top of the cage it will not be in over exposure levels.

Shade dweller version will not work for chams. Here is a breakdown of why.
So the difference in the arcadia bulbs... You have UVB and UVA lighting from them. The 7% bulb is the shade dweller bulb so it has almost half the amount of UVA lighting as the 6% or 12% bulbs they sit at around 30% UVA vs the shadedweller 7% strength UVB bulb sitting at 17% UVA.
UVA is responsible for stimulating different aspects in a chameleon. Feeding and mating responses are linked to this.
