Hello everyone!
I am completely new to the forums and also new to chameleon keeping in general... I have had my veiled cham for about 2 weeks now and I am guessing he is a couple of months old, if even that. Over the past week I have noticed a bulge beside the right eye in the eye socket of my cham. I have seen him scratch it a couple of times on a branch, but it seems that it just won't go away. When he looks forward with the eye, the bulge kind of wrinkles and folds in but it bulges out pretty bad when looking backwards. I honestly don't know if it's a deformity or something I should or shouldn't be worried about and that is why I am needing advise and help. I am trying to keep and grow him up as healthy as possible, and I don't really think I am doing anything wrong, but pls tell me if I am. (if you guys need more pictures tell me)
- His cage is pretty big compared to his size.
- I DO have UVB lighting as well as a basking light with a temperature around 84.
- I do a pretty heavy mist 3 times a day.
- I am only feeding him crickets and mealworms which I lightly dust every other day with calcium d3. (I am looking into getting him a wider varied insect diet however)

They eye problem could be a blocked nasolcrimal duct or a sinus infection. Or he could of got something in his eye and got an infection that way. Either way I would take him to a vet.

You are also using d3 to much. You should use a calcium without d3 every feeding. A calcium with d3 twice a month. And a multivitamin twice a month.

Also mealworms should really only be given as a treat because they have a hard exoskeleton and are hard to digest.

Oh ok that makes sense, thank you so much for the info... it kinda sucks bc as of rn I only have mealworms bc I ran out of crickets. I did order a huge variety of insects for him today though, hopefully they will come in soon.

No problem. Here's a link to the care sheet for veiled and the chameleon health section. All of which can be found in the resource tab at the top of the page. Lots of good info on this site though it may be hard to find for new users.
