I'm so sorry to hear they aren't doing well! I know how it feels to have a sick cham, and it is so totally stressful! My fingers are crossed for all of you that they soon start to recover! If not, hopefully the vet on monday will be able to shed some light on the situation for you

So the female seems ok except still not eating but my male is sleeping all day and I'm really worried. I'm calling the vet tomorrow if he's not improved bit I don't know what they can do about allergies. They're drinking like crazy but besides that he's just sleeping all the time. If any vets on this site can let me know what to do I'd appreciate it

Don't wanna jinx it but they seem to be on the mend! They both just had a huge drink from the spray bottle and are eating fruit flies again for the first time in a few days. When I got home Mal had one eye closed but after I sprayed and fed him he's totally fine except the colors are still a little off. But they seem so much better!

Tanner - trust me, this is a way more useful way to get info on such a particular issue than calling just any vet. And I say that as a vet. Most don't know much about chameleons in general, much less a very uncommon reaction to a specific feeder that most people have never heard of. I am not saying that this site is a replacement for vets for all problems! But in this case, this is actually a better route to take.

OP - I have heard of this reaction in panthers, veiled, parsons and I think there was another unusual species as well. It seemed to be the more orange of the butters that were most commonly correlated with the reaction, which often caused a more yellow discoloration around the mouth in most cases. Most of them went away but one person said it took a very long time to fade. I have fed thousands of butterworms to my panthers, veiled and Jackson without any problems, as have many others. It is a rare reaction but just like with human allergies once it's identified I'd avoid them in the future.

Yes, this statement is definitely untrue. There are numerous, very experienced
People on here who have 10, 20 plus years with a vast array of species. You will get a multitude of information on here you will find nowhere else.

I did call the reptile vet in my area but they are closed on weekends, and they don't tell you anything over the phone I'd have to pay 117$ just to bring him in and then they probably wouldn't be able to do anything anyways, I posted here because there are many people who are much more knowledgeable than the vet when it comes to chameleons. If you don't like it don't read it!
