Help please! Malygos is not eating and looking sick

I have not even been able to find straight calcium powder
they all have d3 in it
" his water cubes " and i also have calcium for gutloading would that be enough for his daily calcium?
should i add more misting cycles or just make them longer?

Does that mean your chamelon has water cubes ??? Water cubes , especially if dehydrated at all , can kill a chameleon. Dr O has a thread about how his cham died as a result of water cubes/crystals .

yes the crickets have cubes. This is whats killing him!?

ok so there is no vet in my area that does any kind of reptiles. The closest one is a few hundred miles away :(
so have no choice but to continue following everyones advice.
He has his dripper installed already and he HAS drank from him.
He gets mists every 2 hours for 1 minunte 6 times a day now

Gonna look up that post about gutloading with fruits and veggies

ok i read dr o's forum and the cubes are not in the cage they are in the crickets cage.
so he Didnt eat that i know now

As far as the supplements go, it totally depends on what kinds you are using, what you are gut-loading your feeders with, how much natural sunlight your guy is getting and what fruits and veggies he is eating himself.

At the most, your guy should only be getting Ca+D3 every 2 weeks (unless you are using one of the supplements with low levels that are made for daily dusting). If you are not using the daily use supplement, you should be giving calcium (plain phosphorus free) every day lightly dusted on the bugs you are feeding him.

Overdosing on vitamins and D3 can be just as dangerous as the under-supplementing can be. If you are using a daily powder like the Repashy stuff, stick with that. Otherwise, if I were you, I would quit with the D3 for about a month, increase the hydration as much as possible including showers.

I hope all works out well for you with this guy.
Have you tried to see if there are any vet schools around you? How about a zoo? Sometimes these kinds of places will help you out too, especially if you don't have a good exotic vet close.
Good luck... Keeping my fingers crossed for you two.

A video i made of what im trying at the moment. Im not sure maybe im just a bad owner:(
this is my first chameleon and step into the world of herpetology for me and I feel like i'm doing just awful.
I'm 25 have fish, dogs, cats, a snake and they are all fine.
Its only my chameleon im having problems with.
poor little malygos last week he was crawling all over just fine and this week its like he got sick FAST

Chameleons are a bit tricky at first. I suspect the majority of us found this board because we were looking for help with a problem chameleon.

I think your cage needs some plants! Chameleons like to hide. If you could pick up a big pothos or two and hang them from the roof of the cage, that would go a long way toward making him happier and less stressed.

I can put the plants back in its just he is weak right now and moving around the plants he was falling to the floor of his cage trying to work around them today

Like others are saying I think he may be dehydrated. The bump on his lip may be an abscess... Did his food scratch him at one point when he was eating? If he is weak and falling often he may have MBD. I would get him looked over (correct me if you have... it's a pain to read through 3 pages of replies ;) ) I hope your cham gets to feeling better :D My guys been kinda lethargic lately too... I think it's the heat :(

I would pad the floor. Maybe put a towel down? Or, possibly rotate the enclosure so it's horizontal and he doesn't have too far to fall? Not having a place to hide increases his stress which can't help him when he's sick.

I don't know how many plants you had in there. Maybe just replace one or two and see how that goes.

I agree.

If he is not moving around much but falling when he does, make it so if he does fall, it isn't far. If that is one of those cages that the floor is a foam board, is there any way you could raise the floor temporarily? I know that some people put dowels and branches across their screen cages by putting nails or pins through the screen into the wood. Maybe you could do that and set the foam board across them so he doesn't have so far to the bottom.

Also, take him out while you put his leaves and vines back in so he can hide. They like to hide even more when they are sick. And if he is not able to hide some, even if his eyes are closed, he will not rest as well as if he felt he was hidden.

I'm not sure on all the supplements, sorry. Sandrachameleon has awesome info on nutrition and lots of other people may be familiar with those supplements and your type of cham.

Still hoping for the best for you and your buddy. I don't know where you are located so can't help find a vet or someone to call for help for you...?

ok so Iv'e followed all the advice from everyone.
He now has a blanket folded in 6 layers on his cage floor so if he falls its like hitting a pile of pillows.
Remember his eye lids were shut from the dehydration. After a bath he would open them but his lids were still swollen making him unable to see and eat correctly.
There are no vets in my area to help me with this problem.
Iv'e been doing everything i can!
So now i have some medicine from the pet store from malnourished or dehydrated reptiles(including chameleons)
its day 2 now ive been mixing up this medicine and feeding him gently via syringe 3 times a day as directed, with daily warm baths and hand drip drinking.
I just got home from work to give him another bath and medicine and he looks way better.
His ribs are not super prominent anymore and when he opens his eyes i can see the black of his eye ball.
He is stronger in his cage and has stopped falling and is holding himself up in some pretty nifty positions.
So it seems he is getting better im gonna keep hand feeding till he can see again too see his food and eat.

If anyone thinks things are starting to look better on my end please let me know i dont want false hope.

thanks so much i cant say how much i appreciate everyone's help and advice for my little malygos

It seems like things are, in fact, going well. I'm so happy for you!

You might try adding "bug juice" to the forced feedings. You just take your gutloaded feeders and whizz them along with some healthy liquid (pedialyte is typical) in a grinder or a food processor until it's something that can be put in a needleless syringe.

It's just a step toward normalcy. It's what he will be eating when he's healthy, just sort of pre-chewed.

great idea! learning something new by the day.
Hes getting blue again :D

So good to hear things are coming around for the two of you. Sometimes it can take them a bit to getting better and you may have ups and downs before he is all well.

You have been working hard to help him and I'm glad it is paying off. Hope things just get even better from here on out! :)

Nope...you make it. Just like I said:
