I have been reading EVERYTHING and can find nothing to help! I got my yellow crested jackson in march, like a chameleon she wasnt very social, then she started coming right up to me when i put the spray bottle or some crickets in, drinkin and eatin lots, so i figured she was just starting to get useto her new home, then i came home from work open the cage to give her water and i was shocked to find 2 babies crawling on the sides, i searched the cage found and found a 3rd. I removed them and very quickly learned how to care for them. So now Pickle (chameleon) is looking lumpy again and has the same attitude and actions as b4. I was wondering HOW this keeps happening, i have NEVER had her mate, i have read they can store sperm, but it has only been 6 weeks since she had the first babies. How long is the duration of pregnancy?can she realy be gravid again that quick? should i take her to the vet? i dont want her to stress and get egg bound tho....

wow, thats a new one on me, yes, despite the many debates elsewhere jacksons can save sperm and i have heard of back to back pregnancies, however, rocky is correct that full term is around 6 months, so it could not be a 2nd full term pregnancy, the only explanation i can come up with (which admittedly is highly improbable) is that she dropped the others prematurely and carried the rest to full term, xanths usualy have between 10-25 babies and usually once they start, it continues until it is done (usually less than three hrs). i have never even heard of a xanth having just 4 or 5 healthy babies, which brings up a couple of questions ; what was the physical condition of the earlier babies ?, did she entirely lose her lumpy appearance?, did she lose her gravid colors ? by 6 weeks, her gravid coloration should have largely subsided./ is she still eating ? and what do her droppings look like ? do they have a stronger than usual odor? i would say if she is still eating drinking and has normal droppings , you are probably ok without a vet , but if her dropping have any unusual characteristics, then a vet visit is probably in order. ps do you know the overall age of the animal ?
