Hi all< im sorry if im doing this wrong not sure how the sight works yet, i wanted to post something new but not sure if a reply is the way to do it>>

if someone could please help me or assist me on my flap neck cam. ive had her about 4months now

If im not mistaken its a she and is estimated to be 1 year and approx 4 to 5 inches in size, the cam has a very large well kept cage with a black like shade clock around it. lots of plants and a section for hight, cam treated wood a water feature a few real pot plants. I have a large uv light on about 12 hours a day and a ceramic heater light near her sleeping place at night as well as close her top cage with a blanket at night. she eats mainly crickets and we have caught flies before that she seems to have eaten. I Live in South Africa And its the first month of winter

my huge concern is she isnt eating hasnt for about just under a week, and as ive monitored her in the last few days ive noticed she hasnt been very active and has remained in the single spot she sleeps. her genearl colour is green with spots but now its been an extreamly light green almost white. Is it natural or should i be freaked out. i love this cam so much. ive taken her to a reptile specialist but they seem to know min on flap necks and said she is hibernating! is it possible? pls someone help please:(:(:(:(:(

Welcome!

Please fill this form out, paste ithere, and post pics of your cham, and we will try to figure out waht is going on.

I just replied to you in the other thread advising you to start a new thread so Congratulations! I strongly suggest you fill in the "How To Ask For Help" form. Just click on that link, copy the questions, paste it into a reply in this thread and add your information. This will reduce the number of questions people need to ask you (there will always be questions though!).

What are the night time temperatures in the room where the cage is located? Chams require a temperature drop at night of a least 10 degrees so their metabolism can be reduced enough for sleep. Unless the room gets very cool (below 60 Fahrenheit) you should not use a night time heat source.

What is the air humidity level in the cage? A dehydrated cham will eventually stop eating, will sit with eyes closed, and be lethargic. The very pale skin color may be a sign that she is overheated if it occurs while she's awake.

I'm not a flapneck expert, but I don't think they brumate.

Thank You all so much

I will fill the form right away, as well as add images, a little to take a picture of her now as the flash might be to drastic, as it is night fall. Just before i continue, DO cams hibernate in winter?

I've heard people say that they slow down dramatically at some points of the year. I've never heard that they get anywhere near what would normally be thought of as "hibernation."

Ok... suggestions in red.

Again-

Remove the water fall. if a bug lands in it, and she eats it, or she falls and drowns, or she poops in it and drinks that water.. its not a good thing. unless you clean it twice a day.

has she ever been tested for parasites?

I almost guarentee she is Wild caught, in which case she probably has parasites and needs to be treated for them.
