I just recently was given a Jackson and she has been eating crix well and is drinking dripping water. I've had her a week now. This morning she has a sore looking spot in the corner of her mouth. It looks swollen, like some kind of bite. Can crickets bite her? I am giving her very small ones and she doesn't seem to be bothered that the sore is there and continues to eat and drink. Is there something I can or should do for this sore? If so, what?

take it to the vet as soon as posible, thats an bacteria infections that happen way to fast.

She may have a problem with her Temporal gland - a gland in the corner of the mouth right where the top and bottom jaws join. Jackson's seem prone to infections there, along with other species (not all species have Temporal glands though). Do you have a photo that you could post?

I'm not sure if I posted the pic correctly or not, but it hopefully is in the gallery under Kate's Lilly. I was told these little guys are shy and don't like to be handled much at all. If so, I'm not sure she knows that because she seeks out attention and won't hesitate to cuddle up in my warm hand. She will walk right out of her habitat on her own little "journeys". I must confess, I'm not too upset about her seeking the attention, but I let her do it her way and she seems content to cuddle in. Is this something I should be concerned with? And does it make it unsafe for her to be more susceptible(sp) to more problems? Her habitat sits right next to my desk upstairs away from the bearded dragons and household traffic.
I have been a member of the yahoo iggy site for a long time, but lost my girl several years ago. I also have a pair of very crazy BD's (spoiled rotten of course) I make it a point to wash very well before going from one to the other so as not to "share" things with any of the others. They can all get stuff to easy as it is....
If this is that temporal gland stuff..... is it emergency or get her there on Tuesday. I know there will be no one available until then at the vet. Is there something I can do in the mean time, like clean it or use some Neosporin on it? She has already won everyone's heart, and I want to do what I can to help her. I found the photo - you can upload the photos to photobucket (or similar, such as flikr) and then copy and paste the url into the post when you create or reply to a thread. I would take her to the vet when you are able to - is there a vet that knows about chameleons that you could see? She will probably need treatment for her mouth as it is quite swollen, bless her. I'm not sure of exact treatment for this, but she will most likely need antibiotics to get rid of the infection. I am in the UK and our vets often use different drugs etc, but when my Jax had a sore mouth (not a Temporal gland infection) I had to dab diluted Tamodine on it.
With regard to her wanting to come out - mine was like that too. Some of them are just 'friendly' or more accepting of people. My latest one is a little more nervous. As long as temperatures and humidity are correct then I wouldn't worry too much. Sometimes chameleons can want to escape from their cage if something isn't quite right.

Thanks for the advice.... I will be getting her to our Rep-vet on Tues and make sure she is cared for. Dr. Mike, (as we call him) has been taking care of my ig and now my beardies. They seem to love him no matter what he does with them. They just sense a gentle hand I think.
I am glad to know there is nothing wrong with her seeking attention and liking to be held. I was worried it might not be good to do so with her even if she is seeking the contact. It was her insistence on keeping close to me that kind of won me over.... They were tired of her and were going to let her loose out in the woods if they couldn't find a home for her.... grrrrrr..... I have a real problem with people that think pets can just be thrown away like that...
I will be attempting to keep Lilly in her own home as much as possible til the vet sees her, just to be on the safe side for her. She has her home set up with her lights and vines and leafy hideouts and she is eating and drinking ok for now. I'm sure she will object, but better to be safe then sorry when its her health at stake! Thanks again for your posts...

It sounds like you're off to a good start with her, since you are kind enough to get her to a vet for her temporal gland infection.
