Help Leo will NOT eat anything

Hey everyone,

To start off my problems... I was on vacation for four days and we left Leo at my dad's store where his employee would "Take Care of Him". Well that didnt really happen cuz he barely changed the water in the mister or dripper, and he put like 10 medium sized hornworms in the cage and didnt take the extras out at night. My dad's employee also said he only ate about 6 small hornworms, then wouldnt eat anymore for the 5 days he was there. So when we brought Leo home on Wednesday I tried to feed him and he didnt want any silk or hornwoms. So the next day I tried again and no luck. So i tried bringing out the secret weapon (SUPERWORM) He loves them. BUT he wouldnt EAT IT??

So now I'm freaking out cuz i tried super, horn, and silkworms. I also tried sow bugs and crickets but he wont eat any of them. I'm super worried about him, cuz i took him outside and he usually runs everywhere, but he sort of just sat there.

So after my long rant, has anyone ever had this problem?

EDIT** He is an ambilobe panther chameleon around 9 months old. He has slowed down his food intake greatly since June, but nothing like this.

Well it could be because you moved him and now you moved him again. They get weird sometimes like that. When I got my other chameleon back in February from another member on here, honestly he did not eat for 11 days. Granted he is older than yours, but I think changing their environments can totally effect their appetites. Give him a day or two to get settled back in and see what happens.

They do have bouts where they will not eat for a while. I see you never mentioned crickets or anything other than worms??
I would suggest filling out the how to ask for help form so other can see the whole picture and possibly help.

Does he appear to have lost weight? He may just be upset over the less then wonderful treatment. If the guy left big horn worms in he may now be afraid of worms in general for a while. Just offer a few feeders each day. If he doesn''t eat within 15 minutes, take them out and try with another feeder the next day. Do you have any flying feeders? After about 4 or 5 days if he doesn't eat we will get concerned and try a few other things.

Hand in there Leo will be ok.

"I also tried sow bugs and crickets but he wont eat any of them" :D I'll fill out the form right now. I also brought him back home tuesday night and he hasnt eaten since then. The good thing is that he is drinking, but with no food he isnt pooping, so i cant be sure if hes dehydrated or not.

I currently only have one silkworm thats been in a cocoon for two weeks, so im hoping to give it to Leo when it hatches. Im just worried because the superworms always work :(

Like others have said moving around and other streses can lead to a few days of food refusal, dont worry too much just yet :)

Looks pretty good to me. I have recenlty cut back my repashy to 4-5 feedings a week just a thought if you were using it daily. Also the not pooping thing is also a area to look at. I would maybe try a nice long shower to try and get things going and hydration never hurts. Also some outside time might help. Just a few ideas. Sorry I cant help more

Thanks for the great suggestions Hoj. I actually cut back the repashy to only once a week because he has edema that i have been trying to get rid of for months.:(

Just an update... He pooped yesterday which was the first time in 10 days, so I immediately took it to the vet to get a fecal float done. It came out negative which is good. He was very active yesterday which I think is good, he also dropped two sperm plugs. But when i tried to feed him, he wouldn't eat. It's been five days since he's last eaten. So if he doesn't eat, how do I get supplements to him?

I got him to eat only one superworm today. I guess it's a start. Anyone else have this problem
