I noticed some foreign matter in my chams eye and it got me really worried, when I took him out and dabbed at it gently with a q-tip he actually rubbed his eye against my finger and let me help him get it out. It looked kind of like old skin from shedding but he hasn't shed in the month I've owned him. It felt like sleep from your eye in the morning. Here's a pic, it came out easily and he's not acting sick at all, given the fussy eating but that seems to be just the way he is. Should I take him to the vet?? What are the causes/symptoms and treatments of eye infections?

Have you tried a long, warm misting session? Sometimes if there's something in there, they'll bulge their eye out and work a foreign matter out usually on their own. If not, go to a vet.

When I bright him out too look at it he actually rubbed it off on my finger on his own, came out no problem, then put him back and gave him a good mist. He was a little agitated but seemed completely normal otherwise

I would assume it was just something in his eye that had to work its way out.

Keep an eye on him and make sure it doesn't come back again. If it does, then the vet might be in order.

My cham had an eye crusty once from a tiny bit of shed in his eye (different from his chronic eye issue which is another story). He also rubbed his eye against my finger trying to get it out and it came out. Gave him a good long shower and that was the end of that little issue. It did not happen again. If it happens again I would go to the vet, but it might just be a one time issue.

I think you guys are right with that it is just a one time issue of something getting in his eye, but I'll be keeping a close eye on him for the next little while in case it comes back, and if so I'll definitely take him to the local herp vet
