Your Chameleon - about 2-2.5 months
Handling - atleast 2 times a day
Feeding - crickets. we had a seperate 10 gallon tank we leave the crickets in with potatoes. He will eat 5-10 crickets every morning and be full the rest of the day. we fed daily and supervised every meal
Supplements - calcium from pet store for cricket, once upon arrival
Watering -we spray cage with misting bottle and i made homemade dripper with waterbottle
Fecal Description - white.no parasite testing
History - We had a snake in the cage he was in but we cleaned it out thoroughly b4 kush (chameleon.) The vet told us to use ensure to feed him with a given syringe since he wont eat because his eyes are closed. we've spent around 200$ since hes been sick trying to keep up with him because i feel bad for the little guy :(

Welcome to the forums. I am sorry to hear that your baby has his eyes closed and not eating. I keep veileds and know a good bit about their care. 90 is way to hot for a baby. A basking spot for a baby should be 80. What kind of UVB do you have? The very best thing you can do right now for the baby is if your weather permits, put him outside in a screened enclosure. Natural UVB works wonders for the guys. I have a blog for new keepers attached below for all the things you need for your new chameleon.

Hello, welcome to the forum :) What species of Chameleon is he? Why did you only give Calcium once? What kind of uvb bulb is it? Tube or coil? What brand?
Chameleons are not friends with dogs and cats....I hope you keep them out of sight at all times.....

You came to the right place for help! Listen to JannB, she is fabulous! I can help with a few things, but keep researching!!
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - about 2-2.5 months
Handling - atleast 2 times a day You should not generally be handling so much, they don't like it. If you just got him, you may be stressing him out a lot. He needs time to adjust...that said if you are handling to force feed, that may be the only option
Feeding - crickets. we had a seperate 10 gallon tank we leave the crickets in with potatoes. Crickets should be gutloaded with a variety of things, potato is really not one of those things. Search "gutload" or I will try to attach some links later. He will eat 5-10 crickets every morning and be full the rest of the day. This seems good. we fed daily and supervised every meal
Supplements - calcium from pet store for cricket, once upon arrival - He needs supplements everyday at this age. Plain Phos Free Calium daily. Calcium with D3 2x a month) and a vitamin 2x a month. This is basic, there are other options, but I dont want to confuse you. Watering -we spray cage with misting bottle and i made homemade dripper with waterbottle
Fecal Description - white.no parasite testing
History - We had a snake in the cage he was in but we cleaned it out thoroughly b4 kush (chameleon.) The vet told us to use ensure to feed him with a given syringe since he wont eat because his eyes are closed. we've spent around 200$ since hes been sick trying to keep up with him because i feel bad for the little guy :(I am confused here, as you said "he is eating 5-10 crickets a day" If he is eating on his own DO NOT force feed him. They only NEED to eat once a day. Some ppl feed smaller meals early in the day, but you dont want to be feeding too late as he needs to bask and get warm to digest his meals

Cage Info: was a 40gallon tank now a 10 You may want to consider a screen cage or a ExoTerra - these are glass cages that have special ventilation. A glass fish tank is really not healthy for them long term.
Cage Type -glass You will probably get a lot of negativity about glass, it can be done but most ppl do not recommend it
Lighting - UVB and heatlight both on constantly to keep temp lvls. What type of lights are you using?
Temperature - 78-90 from top to bot on plant - as Jann said, too hot.
Humidity - 80-85%. now we have him in the bathroom because of his health next to bathtub with hotwater for super humidity for his respitory infection
Plants - no. washed plants from snake b4
Placement - extra bedroom small for heat
Location -NE indiana
Beings that you are in the same area I am in, outside time is not an option right now :( hopefully next week will be a little warmer!

With the little guy being stressed, I would keep his environment as calm as possible for right now but long term, he will not spontaneously combust if your other pets are near him. lol ;) They shouldn't be hanging out together playing frisbe or anything! Claude is not a huge fan of my dogs, but they visit his room when I am in there, and they are outside with him while he is and he has had no ill effects from it. :)

moms a big pet person back home in angola, her and her husband went out and made a mesh cage for the little guy... or girl is there an easy way to tell?

we give him the calcium every other time feeding with the crickets. the uvb is coil, not sure wat brand sorry my gf got it from store. hes a veiled cham. and we keep him in a different room away from the dogs, im not stupid X.x lol i noticed he finaly opened his eyes today were gonna try crickets again tomorrow but if he doesnt eat were going to keep him on the ensure

It seems like the ventilation is not good enough in his cage.your temp gauge is low and is still pretty hot which means the temp at his basking spot is very hot. Typically a screened cage is recommended for a veiled because it gives airflow which is what they need. It helps give a temperature gradient in the cage as well where as tanks just hold all the heat. They should have a temp gradient of about 80 at the basking spot to about 70 on the floor so he can cool off when needed. Coil bulbs are not recommended because there have been issues with them causing eye issues. Supposedly the issues have been corrected but some stores still sell the dangerous ones so a linear tube reptisun 5.0 is most recommended. You can get a cheap fixture at a hardware store as well instead of spending a lot of money at a pet store. He should be getting plain calcium every feeding, calcium with d3 2 times a month, and a multivitamin once a month. I don't know where you got the idea of using ensure but I don't think it is a very good idea, especially being chocolate. If anything give him some pedialyte for electrolytes. I had to force feed my chameleon when she had issues like yours. If your vet is a jerk, you can always call around to others. a lot of vets really don't know much about chameleons they just see them to make money so chose wisely. ask them questions.seems like he may have eye infections, try squirting plain saline solution into his eyes to flush them and see if you can get to a better vet.

thank you! we will be making another trip to the pet store tomorrow. like i said in last post, i will prolly be picking new cage up for kush soon! thanks again i will keep you posted

Turn off the lights for the night. Most do 12 on, 12 off. The temperature should drop by 15 to 20 degrees at night. Your chameleon needs that.

were gonna go out and get the tube uvb asap
Cool, which did you get (or have you not gone yet - the most often recommend uv bulb is the reptisun 5.0 tube. I have ones called reptiglo 5.0, which are apparently nearly as good)

I was just being overly cautious, yes, to make sure the point got across. Careful introductions can be made when the Chameleon feels comfortable and well. I would always supervise when leaving any dog or cat with access to a Chameleon though - I never had a pet dog myself, but I wouldn't trust one with my Lizards :)

in the room that hes in now the temp did drop 15 degrees over night without the light like you said it would, so the temp was around 70 but the humidy was around 90! im concerned about it being so humid and the temp dropping. any thoughts?
