I purchased my Female Jackson Cham from the local pet store about a few months back. I didn't know she we pregnant!! I have 9 babies and one died because it could not get out of the sack. 2 of them was born with birth defects like their bad hands was not fully formed. I dont have a clue what to do. I took them all out and placed them in a 10 gal fish tank with no cover. I stick a bunch of small branches in the tank and threw pin head crickets in the tank. What do I need to do???? Help!!

hi kielsk, not an uncommon scenario, i think you may have emailed me a while back . a 10 g is a perfectly suitable container if properly set up. imo the only suitable uvb for neonates is a lineal reptisun 5.0 , i would keep it about a foot above the cage. just to be safe i wouldnt worry about basking or supplementaion for the time being. the first order of business is just to get them through the next week or two. wouldnt hurt to line the bottom of the tank with paper towels or i prefer terry cloth cut to size (if you have a couple you can just swap them out and wash the other ones) tc will help cushion falls and help hold humidity, but pinheads will do their best to hide under it. i would really try to get your hands on some ff (hydei if possible), much easier to deal with (for both you and the neonates) than pinheads. lots of bamboo skewers for climbing pathways, keep a spray bottle handy (preferably bottled or distilled, or at least filtered water ) and try to spray their tank, plants and furnishings about 5x a day, you want to get every thing wet, but not dripping wet. probably best to avoid spraying them directly for now, if you can avoid it. there are some older pics of xanth neonates setup in a 10 g in my cf public albums,i will look through my pics tomorrow to seee if i have any better pics i can send or post. i think at this point, the four biggest worries are keeping them too dry, too wet, too hot, (i would try to avoid temps above 80* and i would avoid putting the tank in direct sunlight unless you are sitting with it and accurately monitoring temps) or not having appropriate food available. congratulations, i will pm you my phone #
