Well, 5 days is not that long. As disturbing as we find it, they can decide not to eat for weeks at a time.

However, given his tongue problems, I understand your concern.

I think you need to look for a new vet. I'm sure someone will recommend a good one in your area.

If it were me, I wouldn't offer anything for 2 or 3 days. Then introduce the feeders. Absence might make the heart grow fonder, you know?

absolutely try changing up his feeders. It is not a great idea to just feed one kind of prey. Silks are a great feeder but he should also have some harder body insects in his diet. As fas as the sex goes, if the vet really wanted to do that, I would stay clear of him as any vet with experience would know that is not how to determine the sex of a veild. Does you Veild have spurs (little bumps)on the back of his back heels? If so, then he is indeed a male.

haha ya i have had about 3 males he has spurs:p but some people also told me to be feeding soft bodied things because of his toung

To be honest the same thing happened to my veild just before it died. I think what mine had was an upper respiratory infection. I cant say for sure that this will happen to yours but it is always better to prepare for the worst. I really do hope he pulls through though.

well, I was thinking more of a digestion thing like people, meaning getting a little fiber in his diet! I would try reintroducing crickets and maybe trying some supers or something. You are not even 100% sure if he has a tongue injury right? Maybe you were suggested that because they thought it was injured. Maybe he is just plain sick of silk worms. You would probably get tired of eating the same old food everyday too! Try some moths too. They like things that fly!

awww he my first cham i have had live longer than a year and i had him since he was a little baby:( im only 13 so my mom paid for the other phonny vet and she said shes not going to pay for him again:(

did Dave Wheldon say it was injured? You said he came to your house and helped you make some changes and it got better. What did he do? So right now he is not shooting it at all or you don't know cause he is not eating? Have you tried holding the food right up to his mouth?

Try hobbling the crickets. By that I mean, pulling their back legs off so they can't jump. The put them in a big dish or cup so he can hunt them but not have to work hard or be far away.

If you can make arrangements to bring him to a good vet (again, I just know there are good reptile vets where you are) I'm sure the vet can make payment arrangements so it doesn't all have to happen at once.

dave said it could be injured and he told me he thought he needed more calcium so i gave him liquid calcium and stuff it didnt get better well a little it would shoot out and fall and after dave helped his toung barely went out about an inch and it was still like that up and till last week when he stopped eating. and i dont know whats causing his not eating all ive been giving him for the past 2 months was mealworms and silkworms and yes thats how he used to eat i force fed him 3 silkworms yesterday and now if i try to force feed hell spit it out  gets me mad
