So i got my little buddy hes a male Veiled. i have had him for about 2 months now, and im just wondering his actual age. I got him from a local shop, but they didnt know his age which is understandable. thanks, and ill load up some picks

He was sick when i first got him now hes good and healthy!
he also has a newer better cage than the one shown on the older pics(they gave it to me for 50$ so i mainly used it to transport him so i could setup his bigger tank

Cage Info:
Cage Type - Combo mainly glass, but i have the sides blocked of to kill reflection
Lighting - What brand, model, and type of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
Temperature - i use a probe system and the temps range from 75-90 in spots he can thermo regulate nicely
Humidity - he stays about 65-70%
Plants - fake silk for right now until i build his new cage
Location - its in my room on my dresser, and at the top its about 6ft tall

Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - Veiled Cham Male age im not sure
Handling - 1-2 times a week
Feeding - Crickets,Mealworms, wax worms. i do a rotation weekly. I use fresh fruits, and veggies to gut load.
Supplements - Zoomed Repti Calcium with D3 every other week i give all crickets a super light coat
Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? I have an elaborate water fall with filtration so he has constant water at about room temp, and i also do daily misting to moisten it all up. I use repti safe since i use tap water to make sure i get our junk out of there. (yes it is safe for chams) And i mainly see him drink when i mist, but he drinks from the water fall as well. he likes to open his mouth under the leaves and let the water drip in
Fecal Description - Standard except when he eats mealworms, but thats just the exoskelly not getting digested all the way
Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites? he was at the pet store when they received him they took a sample to the vet with him
History - He friendly most of the time which is good!
Current Problem - His age

My guess would be around 6 months old. He's looking good but you need to make a few changes if you want to keep him healthy.

1. You need a screen cage for him

2.Mealworms are not god to use as a feeder. Try superworms and silkworms.

3.He needs 3 different supplements.....plain calcuim just about at every feeding, calcium with D3 twice a month and a multivitamin such as Herptivite once a month

4. Water falls are not good.....bacteria grows in waterfalls and you do not want that to grow in the cage with your little guy

Please tell us about your lighting. What kind of UVB and basking are you using? MBD is a big issue with these little guys.

He's a really nice looking little guy. Hope that you will allow the members here to help you keep him that way.

yeah i was in mid filling that out until i had to go to work, but ill update that along with this post. meal worms were more of a treat i just keep a rotation.

his waterfall inst a normal type i have a lot of stuff going on about it, and keep it clean. i do a lot of maintnace, but its worth it until i get a good mist system built for him. Im going to build him a really nice and open screen cage the correct screen of course. im also going to have to special order some of the other supplements in. you have any preferred websites? for the ones with out D3, because thats all anyone sells around here, and they wont order me in stuff where i work, because i but heads with the owner about reptile care he doesn't treat them right. so i have to do the best i can to keep them healthy

i use a 5.0 uvb, and i use a 75W spot lamp for him for heat and basking. i know about MBD i had some family members years ago that had some, and they kept getting it. sad thing is the vet never told them about calcium supplements, or UVB lighting

oh and im still kinda worried about the full screen on the humidity part. I live in a very dry place Ashland, KY. With the stupid chemical plants in the area they dry the air way out. So with a humidifier, and a good auto mister. you think that should solve the humidity problem?

What's the humidity in your house?

If I left my little 25 dollar humidifier on full blast, at all times, my humidity would top out at 90%+ easily. With a humidifier, I would think you'd be more than fine. They are a lot more powerful than I thought.

my humidity in house w/o humidifier is like 5% it is awful.

good news is im going to build my new cage this week, and order in my habba mister, and do a review on it if all goes well. im looking at costs, and it looks the cage itsself will only cost about 70$ for a LxWxH- 36x24x60. I was amazed he has grown so fast. when i got him he was so tiny, and he has shed like 3 times, and it just pops off of him lol takes about 30 mins for him to be clean

Before i read anything i said 6 months out loud, and after reading every one elses comment i am very confident that your cham is around 6 months old.

only down side is its double the cash, and i work at a pet store so i can get it at cost =/ guess the question is if it sucks is it worth the lost$ ? ill try and google some videos of it in action, and see if it meet what im looking for. i just liked it because it look like a really nice self contained unit

ok so i found a vid of it in action on youtube, and yeah.... going to either build one, or get a mist king lol its super loud, and i still want humidity for him through the night, and that noise must generate vibrations, and would scare not only him, but myself if it went off while i was sleeping lol. thanks for the warning, and ill have to research what i can do to keep to a pretty stream line idea since it is in mybedroom, and dont want hoses running along the walls ect
