Jambo has an appointment with the vets tomorrow, but the problem is getting him out his cage!

This is always a really stressful situation anyway, but he has developed mouth rot, and since will not let me anywere near him!

I have tryed to take him out his cage today to clean it and i have never seen him as aggresive! But tomorrow he is definatley going to have to come out to go the vets and im scared that this is going to stress him out to much he is only 5 months old!

Does anybody no any easy stress free ways?

Thanks

Will he take food from your hand? I had to move 2 velieds yesterday. I used a stick and a feeder. I held the feeder far enough so that they had to walk on the stick to get it, I then put them, and the sticks, into the boxes.

I think it stressed ME out more than anything.

I use both hands. One comes in from the front as a distraction and the other from the back to grab him. You just have to be quick and do it. If you take your time it will give him time to know what is going on. At 5 months he isn't going to hurt you, just hiss and gape a lot and maybe run. I have had many chams and about 1/2 of them don't like anyone in their territory. Once they are out of their cage (territory) they calm down and will crawl all over you. It can be amazing. You will think you have a different chameleon.

Leave his cage door open and put a large plant or tree in front of the door. Step way back and watch from a distance and see if he'll come out on his own. Once out of the cage you should be able to handle him easier.

Thanks il try and coast him out with waxworms and il put a large hibiscus outside his cage see if hes feeling nosy, il grab him if it comes to it but it wont be easy.

I know hes not going to hurt me, i just dont want it to stress him out to much as hes ill anyway, and its going to stress him in the car on the way to the vet as well, hes only a baby :)

Thanks for your help, hopefully my baby will come out easy and be better soon :)

leave plenty of time to get them out so you do not feel stressed in making the appointment.

once out they can stay on that tree until you need to pack them up :)
