HELP for placement of habitat in my apartment

I am looking into getting a chameleon very soon, but I want to make sure I can have everything set up in a good place before getting him. I have read that they need to be placed in the least traveled part of your home, but I have also been told by a couple people that they have their's in the living room of their homes and they do just fine (colorful, eating fine, shedding normal, etc.) I would love to have him set up in the living room so I could see him more than if he was in our bedroom. My problem is that I have two dogs (a 1 year old & a 4 month old puppy.) They don't have free roam of the house when we're not there, they are both put in kennels in our spare room, but when they are out they love to play wrestle all the time. The little one loves to try to sound intimidating, and it can get a little annoying at times, but by that time we separate them to calm down. I'm not worried about them bothering the cage; I'm just worried that the noise would bother him. My question is: From your experience, would the noise bother/stress him out? Should I just "bite the bullet" and set it up in the bedroom?

You should bite the bullet and set it up in your bedroom; mainly because chams require a very set light schedule, usually (reccomended) controlled by a timer, usually roughly in line with sunrise and sunset. The dark hours need to be complete darkness. I don't think this would work for the typical living room (most TV is watched after sunset).

Your dogs barking would probably not upset the chameleon, as chameleons do not hear very well (mostly just sense vibrations). However, their presence and constant activity (wrestling) would surely stress out a chameleon.

Good luck!

after i posted i just thought of that exact thing! haha lol. yeah like i said the noise shouldnt bother them but the dogs wrestling might stress them out though. and when they sleep they should have absolute darkness cause any light they will sense and will bother them. so yeah i too would set it up in the bedroom

chameleons cannot hear so don't worry about the noise!! I know my chameleons do not like my dog at all but some get along with dogs very well. It really just depends on the one you end up getting. Your just gonna have to try and see.

Thank you. The dogs normally just roll around on each other so they don't cause too many vibrations, but every once in a while they might the oldest one might "slam" (that word sounds to harsh for how easy they play) the young one on the floor and it does cause a good bit of vibration. I'll just have to move some furniture around a bit for a more comfortable fit in the bedroom.

Well we generally sleep with the TV off, but sometimes we might fall asleep watching TV. We do have a "vanity area" between our bedroom & our bathroom, so I may could put the cage there to be on the safe side, but the downfall to that is not getting to see him as much. :/

oh trust me you will see him. you will always be in there checking on him making sure everything is perfect. your aways gonna be making sure he is fine and also wanting to see what he is up to. i promise everyone here is guilty of it cause we all love our chams that much
